I have a movie (Charlotte's Web) that is from 1973. It is not the new version that came out in 2006. Moving pictures always pulls the 2006 automatically. how do i make it pull the one from 1973???

AW: force his plugin to pull the correct movie?

Hi.
Go to imdb, look wich tt number your movie has and add a txt- file containing just these number (Charlotte's Web 1973 has tt0070016) in the same folder as the movie. Then check if on MovPic config (Importer Settings) "enable nfo scanner" and "Auto approve on NFO File IMDB match" is enabled. Then MovPic will match the file 100%.

If you don't have a folder for each movie, it's important to name the txt file exactly as the movie file. But it's much better to use a (sub-) folder for each movie. If you have such sub- folders, the name of the txt file isn't important. I have all files named "imdbid.txt" as I use sub- folders

You could do as photopeter suggested, or simply make it a point to add the year information to the filename.

    "Charlotte's Web (1973).avi"

Will also get the right movie to be added automatic.

The NFO method is a more guaranteed way though, and that is because sometimes title+year is not enough. For example there are multiple movies called "Love" each year and you need the exact IMDb ID to be inside the NFO file for a proper match. But on 99.9% of the movies, adding the year to the filename does work, because you are most likely having the movie that is most popular, which will be auto-approved then.

adding the year worked. I had to go into the movie manager and select it still, but it pulled the correct movie info.

    thanks

There is also a setting in MovingPictures (I think in the advanced section) where you can choose to only match movies from the excact year. This could also be a help.

I always names my movies with the title and the year. In fact, I just looks it up on IMDB and copies the excact title inlcuding the year, from their site. This makes bascially all of my movies match perfectly without interaction.

I just wish that I could do it all from within the gui in MP. I hate having to dig out the keyboard, plug it in, exit MP, fix the movie that does not appear, restart MP, etc...

I rip movies from within the gui, so it would be nice to do... I use mediaslayer to rip the movies.

Have never used MediaSlayer, but according to the forum thread, it can use FreeDb and IMDb to get the information, meaning it should be able to generate the "Title (Year)" filename that you need to import it correctly. Even better would be if it could just create an NFO file with the imdb link, or follow the XBMC NFO format, so that MovingPictures will pick the right one guaranteed.

Suggest it to the developers otherwise: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/mediaportal-plugins-47/mediaslayer-cd-dvd-hd-ripping-tool-37606/

I think this would be a logical next step to implement a movie importer dialog (maybe similar to My Videos) directly in MP GUI!!!
This would be the only solutions for the users like me as I have most of my movies in Russian with strange filenames which Moving Pictures is not able to recognize automatically. I always need to exit MP, launch Configuration and select a right movie title in the importer. This is so annoying!!!

I hope this feature will be added to a final release!

I made some updates to the Wiki page describing the <import> and <include> tags, including adding a couple of new xml examples. For the first example, I highlighted the example text and eventually found the location in the menus where I could select the CODE macro to have the example text formatted as a code example. So far, so good...

My problem is that I would like to switch from Kodi to Mediaportal. In Kodi, putting an Extras folder in the same folder as the movie automatically manages all the extras on the Bluray, so my library is organized in this way.
