Fresh install 5min of use and it freeze ! (1 Viewer)

tried new drivers, suddenly card not there. installed drivers once more from Windows Update and then card is OK.

Tried to scan for new channels in MP Server setup, tried to Preview all different channels: Unknown error!
Tested every different Codec settings, no luck there....


Well that`s it for me !
No more MediaPortal until there is any "working" update
Sad as I had a big hope for Mediaportal and the loving Black Glass Nova skin that did really set a big impression on the rest of the house.

Hello!
Your TV database seemed to be crashed. You can repair it pretty easily with:

CD C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\bin
mysqlcheck mptvdb --auto-repair -e -u root -p

Type this in a command prompt window. (when password is asked => "MediaPortal")

If you have done this everything should work again. (TV)
Don't give up! =)

Did you stop tvservice.exe before you repaired your database?
Could you attach logs again?

No I did not stop tvservice.exe , nobody told me to do so
But that did help !

I now have TV back on screen... no EPG what so ever on no channel, only blank!
So have to work more on that.

But I still not trust this system 100% to be sure it will not crash again.
Why did the tv-service crash in the first place ?


Well I will continue to use MP with tv card this weekend..

EPG needs to be grabbed again so this may take some time. Also depending on your EPG settings.

You also got a lot of errors from some plugins. I really don't know whats happening here.

Just for testing, can you try another skin like streamedMP or other to see if you get the same error ?
Effectively, you get strange error and would be nice to find why

With Default skin, you can access to a menu (Plugins) and so you can access to movpic etc.
Would be nice to try it too.

Ah also,

I get db corrupt (from MyTVserie if i remember correctly after a BSOD one time) and it messup all MP.
Maybe you can backup your actual DB here : "C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\database"
Delete the db and reconfig from scratch (these db are not the one for tv)
You can also delete actual db for TV and recreate it.

1. net stop tvservice
2. setuptv /configure-db (in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server" or "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server")
3. MpTvDb
4. start tvservice and test (net start tvservice)

Strange that I have error from the plugins ?

BBC Weather - No skin in Nova so if this is an error that is OK
Yr Weather - No skin here also, so if there is an error that is OK
YouTube.FM - that plugin work just perfect
SubCentral - No problem with that one
Shoutcast - works (but no playlist)
Sudoku - OK
News - OK
Last.FM - OK
iMBD - OK
Rockstar - OK
Moving Pictures - OK
Tetris - OK


It is my EPG settings that is wrong.
There was 3-4 different EPG plugins in the 3rd party settings, so they got me confused !?
Should I use all 3 plugins to grap EPG, or only 1.

And I dont know what Channel Combine, and channel mapping is ?

There is comprehensive documentation to all of this in the wiki. If you spend a little time going through it, it will be a big help to you.

Since I don't know what type of TV you are using, and in which region, it isn't possible to say how you should configure your EPG.

It feels to me, based on your comments in this thread, that you are trying to do too much too soon by adding in plugins and configuring options that you don't understand.

MediaPortal is highly configurable. This is a strength and a weakness. Take it steady and it will pay off.
