Try creating a new post, as it seems your problem is different. Include as much info as possible:
    - Hardware
    - Software incl. codecs
    - PC->TV-connection

okay, this issue doesn't seem to have gone anywhere. What's the best way to bring this to the Dev's attention? :)

    Hi,
This problem it's with DirectX & Windows & not much MP's devs can do with it. Many programs have problems with this Windows setting......

PS, shouldn't be necessary to reinstall MP, just delete the Font folder for the skin you use.

Like I posted in the other thread for this, shouldn't it be relatively simple to just make MediaPortal ignore the setting and use 96 dpi fonts no matter what?

Over riding MS system defaults is not easy, if anyone knew of a way, i'm sure it would have been implemented straight away.

The impossible we do at once, MS MIRACLES take a little longer

So why has this just become a problem with the 0.2 release version?<asked>

Everything was working for before I removed 0.2 RC2 and installed 0.2 release.

My system font size has not changed between the MP version changes, so this problem appears to be introduced recently.

    Almost the same experience

With some dvd's i get a blank screen. I have a star trek enterprise dvd who starts normally but when it enters the menu the screen blanks. If i press enter to the next menu i see it again. When i start the episode the screen blanks again. I can get the screen back if i fastforward. Other dvd's play ok.

FYI, it seems microsoft silently updates directX files without updating the overall version number. I was running directX 9.0c, version 4.09.0000.0904. After installing the latest end user runtimes, which are from april 2006 I found that a number of directX dll files had been updated. Most were d3D related, but a few of the core files like directX.dll were newer too. These updates are not available on the regular windows update, you have to download them manually.

They did not fix the problem, but it might be worthwile revisiting these pages ever so often since the next silent release just might contain the bug-fix we need for this. According to MS, they have a 2 monthly update cycle for directX files, so the next update is already overdue...

Ok, this post was originally posted on Saturday, but it got lost with the recent problems. Here it is again, thanks to IE6's cache:

Deleting the font folder has no effect. The folder just gets recreated the next time that MP runs.

Also, this problem doesn't appear to be a problem with DirectX or Windows, but more with Media Portal. I've done some further investigation and here's what I've found:

    1) The problem does not exist pre 0.2.0.0 release.
    2) The problem is only evident when the system font size is set to anything other than default
    3) The problem has not yet been fixed as at v0.2.0.4 release.
    4) The problem exists regardless of the codec used.
    5) The problem exists regardless of the skin used.

And here's what I've found fixes the problem
    Either
    A) Set your system font to normal (not really practical on a TV-Set where you can't then read the text!)
    or/
    B) Copy your old (pre 0.2.0.0) MediaPortal.xml file to the new installation of MP, and re-run the MP config program.

So the question now begs, what's changed in the MediaPortal.xml file that causes such a big problem?
I've got no idea, but PM me or reply here if you'd like a copy of my working MediaPortal.xml file.

    Regards,
    Tim.

Post forum change edit: XML file is now attached.
