Full screen movies/TV --> blank screen (1 Viewer)

Had this problem, but working now!

FYI, I had this same issue, where MP would play a mounted iso image file via daemon tools but if I tried to change the aspect ratio, I would get a blank screen. Audio was still there, and the image would come back if I switched the aspect ratio back to "normal". This was using an nvidia 7600GT. Well, I purchased and install the Nvidia Purevideo codec and now everything is fine. I can view a dvd via My Movies and stretch it, change it to 16:9, whatever. It's all good now.

Hmm... somebody should make the devs aware of this....

LOL, nice one Okay. I thought that's what we've been trying to do since you first posted in July! :)

So as far as I can tell, we've all followed the correct process to log a bug report. How can we highlight this problem so it gets a bit more exposure?

Tim.

Change MediaPortal.xml or wait for v 0.2.0.5 ?

I also have a similar problem. When starting up MP and playing video or TV for the first time in full screen, I only get a blank screen with sound. (When the video or TV is displayed in a window within MP, the picture is displayed correctly) Changing the aspect ratio did not make a difference for me. All these points also apply to my problem:
1) The problem does not exist pre 0.2.0.0 release.
2) The problem is only evident when the system font size is set to anything other than default
3) The problem has not yet been fixed as at v0.2.0.4 release.
4) The problem exists regardless of the codec used.
5) The problem exists regardless of the skin used.

And here's what I've found fixes the problem
Either
A) Set your system font to normal (not really practical on a TV-Set where you can't then read the text!)

Setting the font to normal is also unacceptable for me and the only other thing working thus far, is starting and stopping a video over and over until it works (on about the seventh time I started a video), which is also not acceptable.

So as soon as I get home tonight I will try this option and see if it works for me:
B) Copy your old (pre 0.2.0.0) MediaPortal.xml file to the new installation of MP, and re-run the MP config program.

I would just like to confirm that this solution worked for me. I didn’t even have to run the MP config program, just replaced my MediaPortal.xml file with my previous one (ver 0.2.0.0 RC4) and now it works, no more blank screens.

Just to check, I then did the following:
1). I put my new (ver 0.2.0.2) MediaPortal.xml file back and the blank screen problem was back. Replaced it again with the old one (ver 0.2.0.0 RC4) and the blank screen problem was gone.
2). Replaced my MediaPortal.xml file with Phrak’s MediaPortal.xml in the above post. I then had to run MP config, because of our very different setup. Started MP and the blank screen problem was still there. So it seems to me like you have to replace your MediaPortal.xml file with your own previous version.

Hmm... somebody should make the devs aware of this....

How do we make the developers aware of this? Will they read it here in this forum or should I post this somewhere else? If a developer read this, can you please reply and let us know if you need more info.

Thanks.

edit: PS: I compared the two files (one that works with one that don't work) and here is my findings. https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/showthread.php?t=10313

Thanks Guys, I'm new to Media Portal but was about to go back to Nero Home because of what I thought was a Video Overlay problem (Black Full Screen Video in everything) - then I found this thread!!! I too had set my font size up to be readable in Windows, set it back and all is fine. FYI - Nero Home works fine with all font settings.

Nathan

I fixed this problem by changing the incorrect resolution in the calibrationXxX.xml file - https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/showthread.php?t=6463&page=2 - post #13.

After this I instlled Vobsub and everything went wrong. I did a reinstal MP but the calibrationXxX.xml file doesn't appear any more. Does anybody knows why it dissapeared or how I can get it back? It was a great solution. I was thinking of recovering the recycled files. Do you think this could work?

:D

I did recovered the calibrationXxX.xml file frome the recycle bin but it didn't worked with the new MP installation. Do I have to do an XP reinstall to make it work again?

well my problem is similar and also only been here since 0.2.0.0 verision.
But its not related to font size.
Using Radeon 9550 chipped Graphics card also
My problem as that all media palays flawlessly but LEAVES a mostly BLANK screen behind making MP impossible to use. Need MP restart to fix most of the time. Sometimes it can be fixed by going to mytv where non fulscreen video playing then back to home page.???
Ill try the different aspect settings
