Again someone requested a new WebBrowser version for MediaPortal 1.3 Alpha. I've only bumped up version and version compatibly check. After a short test, it worked like it should :D

The new version is attached in the first post and here is the small changelog:
Code:
Version v0.63 (15.07.2012):
  [!] MediaPortal 1.3 Alpha compatible

Can you explain how to install that version? Do I have to first install the one from the start post, and overwrite the files with the one from previous post?

I did have a try (mostly to check some issues I have with the browsetheweb plugin), but can't get it to work.

First I extracted all files from start post (http://geckobrowser.codeplex.com/releases/view/44086) except for the geckobrowser.dll
Then I extracted the lot from the 0.63 zip.

I could set the config parameters, and start the plugin, but I didn't get the numbers for the links.

Then I deleted the webbrowser.dll, and put the geckobroser.dll in the plugin/windows folder.
Started mp config, and the plugin (geckobrowser) is listed as incompatible :(

    Shouldn't I have a Skybound.Gecko.dll somewhere?

Still puzzling though, that the geckobrowser has different behaviour as the browsetheweb at some sites, because (if I'm correct) both of them are based on xul 1.9.1

@edsche: Maybe you could answer to the question of @doskabouter above your last post (it´s from August last year!) ;)
But I will answer what I did to make WebBrowser working:
I copied all files from the ZIP into windows plugins, and that worked fine.
    The skin needs a webbrowser.xml.
In general I would suggest that you rename this thread to WebBrowser, because the DLL is named WebBrowser.dll and shown with this name in Plugins.
Furthermore you should edit the first post and delete the Geckobrower.rar, because this does nothing at all except causing confusion ;)
This applies as well to all explanations given in the first post referring to GeckoBrowser.
What is still open for me: Where are the favourites stored? What skin xml is needed for that?
Hope you have time to answer ;)
    THX in advance ;)

My questions is obsolete now, as I've managed to get the browsetheweb running with the new core.

Are there any benefits of this plugin over the browsetheweb? I thought browsetheweb was a merge of a couple of webbrowser plugins (including this one)

So it's still alive after all. Can you give an insight on the benefits over browsetheweb?

i'm just maintaining compatibility for newer MediaPortal versions, as some of the users, still use this browser and of course some skins use this browser too. There are no benefits with this browser. As i know BrowseTheWeb uses some of the parts of WebBrowser and enhanced the features.
