I am getting really frustrated.
any HDTV ATSC Video is nothing but stutter. I Believe I have tried everything. Better Antenna top TV Tuner, new Video Card. TS Reader log is full of late frames.

Is there any way of seeing if the GPU is actually doing anything with the HD Playback (CPU usage is 30-40%)

Video seems fine in WinTV. Just not in MP. Harddrive Thoughput? I'm running RAID 5 on a ICH10 Chipset with 4 drives.

I'm running integrated ATI 4200 with 128M SP mem, & a 2250, & HD ATSC. Playback has been very good for some time. The only time I had dropped frames problems was during the Saturday night 1080i NHL games. The latest SVN now has no dropped frames or glitches even on that program. All other shows, even before this SVN, had no noticable problems, & even the Saturday night hockey game was perfectly watchable.

In your Catalyst control panel, set (video options) vsync to always, deinterlace to auto, (3D options) anti-aliasing & adaptive anti-aliasing to application controlled.

Use the Vista built-in MPEG2 decoder.

Any difference, or were your settings already like that?

Is it mpeg2 or mpeg4 HDTV?
    What codecs are you using?
    Are they dxva compliant codecs?
    Video card driver = ?
Have you set renderer to EVR? (XP use VMR9)
Run graphstudio to confirm what codec you are using, and copy + paste the directshow filter graph.

It could be the microsoft mpeg2 decoder causing the problem.

Have you tried a different mpeg2 decoder?

The refresh rate of your screen should be the same refresh rate as the source.
If your screen doesn't support the same refresh rate as the source then you should try with vsync = off.

You could also try installing unlocked saf (link in my sig)

There are also some known bugs with newer svn and evr renderer causing stutter, so it might not be your fault.

I've tried playing the TS files in a different player, same problems in the same spots. So I would imagine it is a problem on the recording side of it.

I am also experiencing these issues with recording on my HVR-2250 and Qam recordings. Watching TV works well, but for some reason recordings display more of these errors in tswriter

Either broadcaster has issues with the stream (timestamp jumps can be caused from that) or the signal is really bad and lot of dropped packets cause the timestamps to jump.
