What name does driver display? Yacoon or somthing?
I've tried a similar remote (SpeedLink), but I'm not to happy about the remote/mouse toggling.

Anyway, good of you to share experience and files for setting it up.

    Hi Spragleknas,

I didn't install any drivers at all. I just plugged the IR USB dongle in, Win7 just "found" the drivers and it worked. I'll have a look for the drivers if you want - just point me in the direction I need to look.

I'm with you on the remote/mouse toggling - but I paid £8 (€9.50) for it so I cannot really complain... it just extends the g/friend learning curve a bit.

It uses Win 7/Vista drivers. The driver "Name" is simply USB Input Device and the driver file names are hidclass.sys, hidparse.sys and hidusb.sys.

EDIT: So I guess even tho it works exactly like an MCE Remote, it is using the HID drivers. making it a HID device?

The only thing so far that I have that I don't like about this remote is the Play/Pause combo button. Can give u a bit of a headache if you do a lot of FastForwarding. Using that Button You FF then have to push it to pause, and then push it again to play. Small price to pay for such a good little remote.

I must admit that FF is not a function I really use. The only time I FF is to skip ads on a recorded TV show and I do this with the direction buttons. It never occurs to me to use the FF button to do this.

Is it not possible to reprogram a 'spare' button so one can act a play and one can act as pause?

Hey Porky, yes it is. I used my previous button (the one right below the toggle button). I also use the direction buttons for advancing. It seems easier to skip 15, 30 or 60 seconds at a time rather than wait for it to FF. Just wanted to let ppl know about this tho, as some might be addicted to the FF and RW buttons =) Good tip tho! So for those of u who might be annoyed by this... just use the arrows!

I also wanted to add... The only buttons on this remote that I have found can't be reprogrammed is the Media Center, WWW and Desktop buttons.

    Hello,

I know that this is an old thread, but last week I received this controller and some buttons don't generate any kind of event on my pc.
I'm running mediaportal in winxp, and the usb IR receiver is recognized as a HID device. I installed EventGhost in order to check wich key combinations are sent to the pc when the buttons are pressed. Some of them (fastforward, for example) simply don't send anything (well, in fact something is send because the light on the receiver blinks, but EventGhost doesn't detect it)

Is it possible that something changed with this remote? Has anyone tried it with winxp?

    Thank you

Sounds odd. Mine works flawlessly and exactly as Lyfesaver said. Thinking about it, I don't really use the fast forward button. I always skip forward using the arrow keys. I'll try it later when I get home and report back.

BTW, I have it set up using the Keymap as Lyfesaver attached at the start of the thread.
