On the audio/video sync issue... still have it. The new video card works great and I do notice an improvement in the reduction of the number of dropped frames (still get some but very low numbers).

Does your sync issue is only with HD-PVR ? or with 24p source too ? Maybe you can give https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...renderer-better-video-playback-quality-84441/ a try !
Just my two cents.

I shall give it a whirl and report back. Thanks!

UPDATE: I'll restrict my posts on this topic to the MP Audio Renderer thead: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/general-development-no-feature-request-here-48/mediaportal-audio-renderer-better-video-playback-quality-84441/

>>> Last word ;-) I installed it and notice that the MP Audio Renderer is adjusting the a/v sync (I think) ... so I'm hopeful that will be my solution.

Just checking in. Been using the Beta since Friday (or was it saturday?) and it's been working like a champ. I've been trying to trip up the system by scheduling all sorts of recordings and watching live TV at the same time but it's been really good. No hiccups so far (one of the SVNs used to not record a 2nd analog recording if one was already running). I think this speaks a lot to MP stability in general and specifically the work you guys have done on this bit of code for these tuners.

I'll be ordering a second colossus to pair with this one I've so happy with it.

True, but the HD-PVR would 'remember' settings set in the Arcsoft software. For example, if I physically changed the audio from RCA to SPDIF, went into the Arcsoft software and changed it from RCA to SPDIF, restart the TV Server it would 'pick up' the change even though the setting was Auto for all the Channels. For some reason the Colossus, although the audio setting in the Channel config is set to Auto, does not automatically pick up the change. Again, this is what I & SJeffrey are going to research this weekend...

Hmm, okay. I have no idea how the auto mechanism works so I'd be interested to hear what you find out. I guess it is possible that it uses the last setting (in which case Arcsoft settings could have an effect), however I would have though it more likely that the driver tries to physically detect whether there is audio on any of the inputs and selects the first one it finds that does have audio. Since the Colossus is so fresh, advanced stuff like that could very easily not be working correctly/yet...

Just an update to those who are expecting a contribution from myself in the form of a guide. After installing 1.2.0 beta my Colossus isn't being detected, I've tried everything I could find to fix this issue and at this point I'll be uninstalling MP. Aside from the aforementioned problem, not being able to seamlessly start a recording and watch the same program is a deal breaker for me when other media solutions do this. Hopefully other new users will have better luck with MP than I have.

    Hi RunningBlind

I'm *really* sorry to hear that. Does that mean you're giving up on MP? I for one would be willing to try and help sort this out. In fact I've already found one bug in the HDPVR/Colossus detection that will be fixed in 1.2.0RC. If that is all that is causing your problems then installing a fix would be a 2 minute job. Of course I can't assume that the issue that you're facing is the one I know about so I'd be asking to see some logs before I can confirm anything.

You may well be completely fed up with MP, and in that case you're entirely free to go your own way with whatever other software or hardware that suits you best. If you're sticking with the Colossus then I'd encourage you to remember that the support for the Colossus is new and other software will probably have wrinkles to iron out too (if they support the Colossus at all).

I'll be here to help if you want me...

    Best regards,
    mm

Great News here, after installing the new colossus driver from Hauppauge website:

    Name: colossus_29111.zip
    Size: 7 MB
    Updated: 4/22/2011

    I confirm:

    - AC3 through SPDIF works like a champ and
    - Video bitrate is *unlock* to any value we want

Those problems are things of past now !

Two other media solutions compatible with the Colossus that I've tried took less than 20 minutes to have everything in working order. The SVN build was working well for me minus small fixes here and there for other issues, my real problem is with documentation and user friendliness.

I realize that the Colossus is a new product and was implemented only recently but having to put this much time into getting MP working really doesn't compare to other solutions compatible with the Colossus. The other issue mentioned in my previous post is small, negligible for some users obviously, but at this point it just irks on me.

Thanks for the help, however I can't justify putting more time into MP right now, I'll definitely be trying again at some point but I'm burnt out for now.

Fantastic! That is great news. No audio drift with AC3? In the Channel Configuration, are your Audio settings set to Auto or SPDIF?

I have the house to myself this weekend and all next week, so I plan to rebuild my server with the full 1.2 install. :)

Cool... I'm running two Colossus (or is it Colossi?) tuners and two HVR-1600 QAM tuners so you shouldn't have any issues. My biggest issue now is recording space. Now that we have 4 tuners everyone thinks they can record everything under the sun :( I'm waiting for a great deal on a 2TB WD black drive...

    Wile E.

NO audio drift for me with FFDshow, 3 flat line, 1 framedrop every 10 000 frame. I installed new drivers, configure Showbiz to 12 mbps and optical. In channel configuration, Audio is set to auto. And now MP has DD sound from my receiver. My wife and I are sooooo pleased with the colossus. I really appreciate your work guys... WileE, mm and others from this thread. I'll do my best to help this thread moving forward.
