Thanks mm, I'm sure that is the issue.
I went to download SAF-6 and had about 5 versions to choose from. Chose the latest one. Ran the executable and the codecs showed up in the SAF folder.

Went to MP Config and Codecs and the recommended ones do not show up ie Cyberlink Video Decoder.. Searched Wiki and Forum for the step of installing codecs that I might have missed and do not find it. Can you point me to the codec installation process as I again have missed a step I believe. How do I know which codecs to use for Colossus? Thanks for your patience. Dave

I've never used SAF myself but that sounds good to me.

Went to MP Config and Codecs and the recommended ones do not show up ie Cyberlink Video Decoder.

My understanding is that you need to PM hoborg to get access to the Cyberlink codecs. This is what people are referring to when they talk about "unlocking" or "SAF unlocked".

How do I know which codecs to use for Colossus?

Well as I understand it the Colossus uses three formats:
- h.264/AVC video
- HE-AAC audio
- AC3 audio

You need the SAF codec pack to give you the codecs for (1) and (3). The Monogram codec (installed with MP) should be fine for (2). If you restart the PC then post logs again I can check what codecs you have now (as a result of installing SAF) and possibly make some recommendations for the settings to use.

I'd like to ask those of you using the Colossus how it's going for you. I'm currently choosing between buying two of these and sticking with MP + 4TR, or buying the Ceton InfiniTV 4 and switching to W7MC. I've been very comfortable with MP + 4TR but I'm worried about the reliability of the Colossus, and everything I read about the Ceton makes it seem rock solid. On the other hand, I'm not fond of the way W7MC handles schedule conflicts, even with 4 tuners. I'm a bit frozen in place at this decision so I could really use a little help making a choice.

I have been running the colossus for a bit now and it has been totally rock solid.

I will be getting another one or two very soon as it works just that good for me.

I know this thread is long but all the info you need is here if you get stuck......

Thanks for the response! I've read a lot of the thread, but since a lot of it is support for issues, it can skew the actual experience and performance of the majority of users. If 10 are asking for help, but a thousand are having no trouble but just not posting about that... So I just wanted to check in and make sure that I can buy these and not find them to be hit-or-miss. I find your post reassuring though.

Just installed the Colossus card and Media Portal. Can see and record from my Uverse STB with Win TV. Am I doing something wrong that Media Portal doesn't "see" the Colossus card and channel guide. Sorry if this is too noobish.

Are you using MP 1.2.0rc? MP 1.1.3 won't work for you at all. Also, if you've installed the Windows Media Center plugin then you need to make sure that you install the patch from the first post. Reading the first post is a good idea in any case...

Thanks for the super fast reply. I am downloading the 1.2.0rc now....

This thread is a bit overwhelming. I know that you all get a lot of these noob questions, so I do appreciate the help.
