2. I received a remote (43 buttons) and a blaster with my Colossus but no USB IR device. Do I need a USB IR input in order to control MP or can I do it with what I have? Where does one get an appropriate IR USB input device if I do need one?

Beware, the IR blaster is the week spot in the Colossus card. You have to put it directly on top of the ir receiver of your set top box, ( ther is a two sided piece of tape on the device for this) or else it won't work. Further, after a year and a half, mine gave up. I sent a message to Hauppauge, and they sent me a new one for free. Really nice about it also!

You can also use a separate usb ir device and control it with TVService. Bought one over the web. Either works ok. And the separate USB device can stand next to the set top box, which is easier.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for this info on the sensitivity issue! I will certainly watch for this. Dave[DOUBLEPOST=1353600797][/DOUBLEPOST]I was just concerned that the Wiki and instructions all mention a 45 button Hauppauge remote but I saw no mention of the 43 button that I have. Didn't know if it was ok to use in the same way as a 45 button. Thanks, Dave

Pipette, Any chance you can help here asyou seem to have a Colossus up and running?

I am getting close with Colossus. I can now control MP with the Hauppauge 43 button remote. I also have taught 'something' the ir codes (channel numbers) for controlling the STB (Directv). So this leads to the following questions:

1. I am not getting an ou put signal from the Hauppauge blaster. MP reacts to the inputs from the remote but the channel numbers are not getting passed on to the blaster for controlling the STB. What steps did I miss here?

2. I am hopeful to be able to set the Hauppauge Remote SKIP key to, for example, skip ahead 30 seconds during playback. Right now it does nothing. How may I program it to skip 30 sec ahead?

Thanks for any advice on these issues. Dave

Make sure you restarted the TV service after configuring the blaster plugin.
If you've done that, please post your log files so that we can see where the problem is.

In MP, skipping forward and backward works with the arrow keys. Presumably the remote you're using has them.
If you insist on using the skip key, go here:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...l_Configuration/11_General/12_Keys_and_Sounds
(***note: only visible in expert mode, so make sure to enable expert mode in the top right corner)

...and add an entry for the skip button, mapping it to the same action as the right arrow key.

    1. Whatever the irremote.DLL thing is, it is really not happy.

I don't know which one you're using, but at least one has to be enabled. Probably the TV3 Blaster Plugin rather than the ServerBlaster plugin.

    Hello.

I am new on this forum. I have been running Colossus with WinTV7 on my computer for a few months now. I have a set top box plugged in via the component inputs (no IR blaster or anything), and have the software configured to receive it as a simple external input. Recently, I upgraded to windows8, but the software continued to work fine. Yesterday, however I went to use the software, and it stated that I had no tuner available. Upon checking my device manager, there was an issue with my colossus. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers.

I checked my connectors, and read a few forums that informed me to try a hard shutdown (pulling the plug after shutting down to remove any charge from the system). I did so, and upon reboot the card was fine. I opened the software, however, and it no longer plays any audio or video when component is selected. Other inputs give the "no signal" display, but the component acts as if it is playing, although it is a black screen with no sound.

I have tried using Windows Media Center to no avail, but if I use the arcsoft showbiz software, and select the capture tab, the picture and sound are crystal clear. What do I need to change to get WinTV7 working again? Any ideas would be appreciated... Thanks!

Hey all. I have a PVR2 gaming edition Model 145210. Set top box component-out is going into PVR2 "PS3" input (component-in) for audio and video. My OS is Win7 Enterprise, all service packs etc updated. Currently using driver downloaded from Happauge support site version 1.2.30354.0 from 2012Dec19. Windows detected the external USB device. Bundled Arcsoft application lets me view video from the set-top box without any problems.

I uninstalled Arcsoft capture software, fired up MP TV server config, and the Hauppauge PVR-2 is not detected. I added a startup delay for TV server, still not detected. I re-installed Arcsoft, left it in "capture mode", started MP TV Server service, still the device is not detected.

This is an excerpt from the TV Server log. It appears that TV Server is not detecting my card. What could be wrong?

    Thanks.

Bundled Arcsoft (snip)

I went back to the Hauppauge support site and followed a link to the C4Me application. Simple and small, it detected that the PVR-2 was there, was getting signal into component, and displayed video. The light band on the device got brighter while the video displayed. So I went back to TV server, started it, and still the device is not detected. The log has the same content as my previous post.

    Help?

I installed the StreamEez application from Hauppauge downloads (even want back a driver rev), it also shows video fine. I restarted the TV Server service, no detection. I stopped the StreamEez software, and again no detection.

I then tried the same routine back with the latest driver again. So....

I saw a wiki page that stated this device is now supported. Should I shell out $ for the WinTV application, will that install the necessary drivers/bits so MP can detect my PVR-2 HD? I'll do it of course if that is what it takes. Just trying to get a clue for success.

    Thanks.
