The smiley tells me that you know what the WAF is, but for others, it is "Wife Acceptance Factor", a metric used to determine how much tech stuff, and the complexity of that stuff that is visible, will annoy a spouse. It can be offset slightly by the usefulness of the tech. It is kind of a complicated equation.

Yup, and I'm pretty sure my system has a WAF of 0. It's not a mess, but it is definitely the focal point of my living room with plenty of apparent complexity. It's also visible from the el (what Chicagoans call their light rail system) a few blocks down the road. Time to retain a bouncer for my Super Bowl party. :)
I have not downloaded or tried to build the source. I will take a stab at the "card enumeration" buts when I get a chance, probably later in the month at the rate I am going. Thanks!
Another thing you should have on hand when you take on this endeavor is the latest SDK from Hauppauge for these devices. That will make quick work of determining what, if anything, is different in the interface relative to the original HD-PVR.

G'day dewds, I have the Colossus and am using the component input/spdif to record @ 1080i, everything works fine except I have two issues, sorry if they've been mention before but this is a big thread to read.
first issue is when I set a scheduled recording it doesn't record anything at all.
second issue I have is when I do have a recording I can't seem to edit them in videoredo (h.624) like I used to for SD and HD (ota) recordings off of my other cards, videoredo reports that I need to quickfix the stream but that takes upwards of 6 hours for a hour of recording and or crashes out, what are you guys using to cut out commercials?

thanks for getting this card to work in mepo, and thanks for any help or pointers you can give me.

TV-Server logs would help a lot here Also, are you absolutely positive that your recording paths are valid and are locations that whatever user TV-Server is running as can write to?

I use ComSkip and it works great. I don't actually edit the files to remove the commercials though, as the effort doesn't seem justified. Rather, I just use the next chapter button in MP and MP uses the ComSkip data to take me to the end of the commercial break.

I use Smart Cutter from fame-ring to cut out commercials. It is frame accurate and does not need to re-encode, so it is pretty fast.

For the recording issue - have you mapped all of your channels to the Colossus in the TV Server config?

thanks I'll have a look at smart cutter, I don't have the STB channels mapped in mepo, I just have the component channel mapped, I usually just manually start recordings.

There is a button on the TV Server config in the top left that will open the log directory. Or you can navigate there manually

    Hello All,

I was wondering if any of you have been able to get 2 or more analog cards that are connected to multiple STB to work properly?

    Here's my setup:

    - MP 1.3 RC
    - 1 Colossus and 1 HDPVR that are connected to 2 STB that have exactly the same channel lineup.

So far i've been able to:

    - Create all the channels properly
    - Map them to both cards successfully
    - Setup 2 tuning details , one for each card
    - Setup IRSS properly i.e. when a recording is ongoing and I try to watch live TV on another channel MP switches to the second analog card properly and IRSS sends the channel change at the right device.

So all works the way I want it to except for one thing. Both analog card use the component video input and toslink audio input but toslink is SPDIF ln #1 on HD PVR and SPDIF ln #2 on the Colossus. So when I switch to the second device I have video but no sound. I tried setting the tuning detail to automatic but that does not work for either device. I was wondering if any of the 2 following solution is possible:

    - Map individual tuning details to a specific card so that the proper sound input is selected
    - Change the pin assignment of the colossus so that toslink is SPDIF ln#1 so try match and only one tuning detail is required

I really would like to avoid having to setup separate channels for each devices. That would make my TV guide stupidly long.

I'm very surprised that the tuning details do not follow the same order as the card priority. You'd think it would be the reason multiple tuning detail was allowed in the first place. Maybe I'm missing something. Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Pascal,

I have three Colossus cards controlling three DirecTV STBs. There is no magic involved in getting that to work. The issue here is obviously the *mix* of the Colossus and HD-PVR, which as you point out don't have identical input mappings.

I have never tried it myself, but it looks like TV-Server has a "TV Combinations" feature that will effectively allow you to create separate channels for each card (with appropriate tuning details) yet effectively merge them. You might want to look into that. You might also want to check out how to do quick input reconfigurations for a lot of channels.

    Hi Sasha,

Thanks for your info. Combination is what I used to get the cards mapped to the same channels. With combination you end up with channels with 2 tuning detail entry.

I had used a perl script to modify the channel list in the import xml file and added the mappings and tuning detail and imported them into MP. It imported all my channels properly and I did not get any errors. Everything seemed to be properly configured.

After your post I tried adding 2 channels manually and mapped one per card and combined them to see if I had not filled in the import file properly but the manual channel looks the same as the others. The manual channel entry is called ZTEST in the export file of my channels that I've attached. You'll see that all the channels are mapped to both cards and that there is tuning detail for each card. The problem is that MP does not seem to choose the second tuning detail when it switches to the second card.

I am still having trouble getting MP to work in win7 with Colossus single seat. I have two issues and I wonder if the attached log might help in solving them? 1. I am using HDMI from the Colossus to the TV and get a great picture but no sound. 2. I am not sure how to get the Hauppauge ir remote working. What do I need to configure in order to pass on the commands to the blaster that came with Colossus.

Thanks for any help you can offer. Log attached. Dave
