So I have set up my remote as per MCE and it is working great.

Glad to hear :D

1) How do I make it so when I click on the MCE button on the remote MediaPortal opens?

There is a simple plugin, MPtray:
MEDIAPORTAL - free media center - MPTray

Just download, unpack it in \program files\team mediaportal\mediaportal\ and run the BAT file "mptray_install.bat". Run it in a command prompt, within Mediaportal directory (just to see for any error).

You'll find then "mptray.exe" in Task Manager, started automatically at boot (very little and very few resource consuming). It make the green MCE button works ;)

There is also another plugin, MPTray-Mod; it does the same thing, but (for me) causes problems in MP responsiveness.

2) How do I make it so MCE does not respond when I press buttons such as the "Live TV' button.

Uhm. In Mediaportal config you can map/remap remote buttons (and remove mapping, I think), give it a try.

    Hello everyone,

I'm also interested in this remote. Does anyone know if blasting from MP with this remote works, too?

edit: I mean blasting not with the remote but with the transmitter, of course :)

    Regards,
    BartManson

    Anyone?

The remote's usb dongle has a built-in ir transmitter. Is blasting with this transmitter supported by MP (or IRSS or ...)?

    Regards,
    BartManson

Well, the log doesn't show any problems. I can see correctly tuned channels in the log. It seems to me that the tuner works fine. Can you copy the created ts file(located in your timeshift folder) somewhere else while in channel preview and try to play it in VLC or MPC-HC? PS: You can also try to make short record

Perhaps... Only way to confirm would be for me to invest in a different USB DVB-S2 tuner (like the Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-S2), which I might do if the issue persists.

The reason I was thinking I needed more RAM is that TV now seems to be HiDef and so the files have grown. I edit the files before storing them, to reduce some size. It is finding that slower, I think. Or it could just be because I'm expecting more? The Baseboard manufacturer says ASUSTech Computer Inc; Baseboard product P7P55D-E...
