Win 10 pro, MP1.20 final. Been using MP loyally for almost 10 years. Playback of HDR has been an issue since I got a 4K HDR TV. Thought the client 'puter couldn't handle it as there was stuttering, went to an AMD 2700x cpu on an Asus x470 board with a 1070sc gpu. Found out that it was the stock codecs I had.
Changed to the K-Lite pack and playback is perfect, except that all HDR 4K video files (mkv predominantly) playback with washed out color. Last night tried playback of the files with VLC 3.0 outside of MediaPortal and perfect color playback. Tried madVR again, no better in MP. Also have tried turning on and off hardware acceleration etc. No improvement.
Is there something else I can try? Or a way to use VLC for 4K playback from within MP?
Any ideas appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

Can you provide screenshot of all tabs under codec section, please?
Do you use lavfilter as codec?

Azzuro, here's screenshots of the codec tabs (yes I use LAV) plus one of the LAV Video setup page. Hope you can see something I don't. Thank you for the interest in helping.

    Hello,

I don't have 4K setup but I know the most user has a correct setup, maybe it's related to ycbc.... RGB mode or something like that VLC works differently about those modes (not using DirectShow if I'm not wrong).
Could you make some screenshot or take a picture to explain the visual?

    Also tagging @HomeY :p i know that 4K works with him :p

    @azzuro
Thanks so much for your suggestion. I installed the latest stable LAV (72.0) with no change. Reinstalled madVR and rebooted, and the 4k files wouldn't playback at all.
Then I tried a fresh download of the latest madVR, installed and rebooted again.
    That did it!
4K playback is working fine now. Colors perfect and forward and back skipping nice and fast. Also, on the MPEG4 playback, I hadn't noticed that, will add that in. Almost all of my files are mkv files.

@Sebastii, unfortunately I can no longer make a screenshot of the washed out colors, problem gone!!!:)

Apparently the latest iteration of LAV and madVR finally have 4K playback down.:)

Thanks all for you help and interest!

Hi i would like to know how i can find out if MP 1.21 running on Windows 7 is playing back my HDR 4K files the right way?
Is there some hint on the OSD or can i see it in a Log File?
