Hi folks,

I have a problem with Live HDTV since I use Mediaportal.

Live HDTV never plays fluid. It seems that my average frame rate is too low. I have 4 TV stations in HD: Nederland 1-3 an eurosport.

When I record a Live HDTV show, and play it in an external player, like arcsoft TMT, I get perfectly fluid video. So somewhere in Mediaportal or in my codec settings is something wrong I presume.

What am I doing wrong? Or is this a known bug? Plz help

Same here, live TV stutters after about 1 min, then it stutters every 5 seconds or so. If I hit record and then immediately go to the recorded tv section and play the same file from there, it plays fine. So for me it is not a codec issue, but rather a problem with the way MP is playing live tv streams.

I thought at first it was the SSD I was using as a buffer drive, but I switched to a 2tb buffer drive outside my drive pool inside WHS, no change in the frequency of the stutter.

Same here, live TV stutters after about 1 min, then it stutters every 5 seconds or so. If I hit record and then immediately go to the recorded tv section and play the same file from there, it plays fine. So for me it is not a codec issue, but rather a problem with the way MP is playing live tv streams.

Please try following:

1) use local hard disk as timeshifting storage
2) skip back 15 seconds in TS buffer (if this is working sounds like your PC is playing the content on different speed than the broadcaster is sending)

I tried your options and no luck.

I also tried to record something and play it back in Mediaportal: same result, very unstable framerate. In TMT no problem.

I am having this problem only with Eurosport HD. That's there are for the Dutchies two channels, one with Tjech, Dutch, Eng and Hung language and one with only Dutch and Eng language. Both channels seems to play fluid up to some point where it interrupts the playback by a standstill for half a second and then continues fluid for a few seconds and than a standstill etc., etc, etc.

It's codec independent, graphiccard independent and operating system independent.

When watching the broadcast from the home screen with a running ticker at the bottom of the screen (Black Glass) the ticker also stops for half a second. It looks like the whole pc freezes for a moment.

I will investigate furter this evening as wife and kids are away (yehaa (oops) They can read this)

Here is a ts.stream. I cannot play this stream in any player on any system with any codec stutterfree. I guess it's a broadcast failure. It seems that audio is early after a few seconds and that holds the video stream to stay in sync.

Plays fine here using a gt220 gpu, no sync errors as confirmed by TSDoctor, this is using M$ codecs within MP internal player.

??? So the football part is smooth as silk ? The only difference would be the graphiccards. I have about 15 cards lying around here, but they are all ATI's. They are all 3500 upto 5700 models.

The only difference I can immediately see between our two setups is I'm running MP on 32bit Win7 and using Nvidia, otherwise our specs are not that far apart, besides a HD4650 should handle 1080 fine.

Just played that bit over and over again, there is tiny micro stutters happening during the sequence, so that may well be the transmission signal rather than reception or playback, as I said TSDoctor finds no discrepencies with the file, is it particular HD channel only that does this.
