To see if your problem is to do with the graphics card (and as I suspect the memory of the on-board graphics) can you temporarily get a dedicated graphics card and try that to see if the problem goes?
This help you determine where to focus your efforts (and money).

I'm still betting that dual channel mode for memory will solve your issues, but this is a good way to test.

Hi,

Your system should be more than enough for TV use. I have a more modest system than you (sempron 754 based, ATI 9550 256mb, 512mb ram) and it's fine. I too had many problems (I think most people do at first) with TV skipping and tearing. I solved it by setting the de-interlace mode to Bob in the media portal config program. You might want to try this too if you haven't already. You know that de-interlacing doesn't seem to get mentioned a lot but it can cause loads of problems for many reasons.

Basically my system is set to use directx exclusive, I'm using windvd7 (intervideo) codecs, I have enabled hardware acceleration for the codec and have set Bob interlacing for too. All these were set in the MP configuration program and solved all my problems.

Please post here if you are still having problems, someone somewhere will be able to help.

Throwing money at new hardware isn't always the solution, usually some tweaking and tuning will more than suffice. If you were on an overlocking forum someone would probably recommend a 1000w psu or something ha ha.

debaser_uk - The PC should be specced well enough for TV, but dual channel RAM is pretty crucial when dealing with onboard Gfx and shared memory.
Like I said, I had big issues with any sort of movement on my onboard Gfx. Even just dragging a window around the screen fast caused lines and tearing. I checked into it, was recommended to try dual channel and then everything was good (until I had to upgrade to a 5200 card as the mx400 isn't a hardware DX9).
In this case the 6150 will be great for video but single channel RAM, shared with the whole system, will b no match for dedicated VRAM.

This was why I suggestd borrowing a card to see if I was on the right track before buying anything extra.

By all means, if the problem can be solved with existing hardware then great, but I suspect they have tried a lot of these already.

I'm glad to say my problems with TV tearing and frame skipping are solved.

I would like to thank for their help Taipan, bartmanson, regeszter, debaser_uk and specially Marcusb, who really found the problem.

Marcusb, after testing every proposed solution without success, and reading one of your last mails, I borrowed another DIMM from a friend of mine who has exactly the same computer as me, and finally TV works fine.

Definitely it is a problem with the onboard GFX performance, and dual channels improves it a lot.

Of course you are 100% - I totally speed read (mis-read) the spec. Shared memory? It's never a good idea unless you only ever surf, email and write the occasional letter.

I am eating humble pie (well a sausage and egg roll actually but you get the idea).

Hello regestzer,

CPU is still high (about 80%, while other programs like ShowShifter o tuner software is only about 10%), but I assume this is because MP does not support Overlay, so I assume there is nothing to do at this point, and image Quality is not as good as this other programs I'm mentioning, so I'm afraid I won't use MP TV very much.

I always have to use Exclusive Directx because if not black dots appear all over the screen (as a grid), which may be some kind of problems with video drivers.

Anyway, I will use other functionalities like video, DVD and Music, which are in MP the best i've seen by far.

I am also using Winfast TV2000 card and suffer similiar problem. I could not find your mentioned CaptureCardDefinitions.xml that can use with Intervideo encoder. Can you re-attach again?

Here you are. With this you can use the Intervideo encoder instead of Leadtek PVR.

Thanks. It works quite well now, but I have to enable timeshift in watching TV, otherwise there is frame skipping. This makes me a little bit surprise because I think that timeshifting should utlilze more resources.

Do you know if the Intervideo encoder filter still works after trial period expires?
