Is there anyway to activate the currtently disabled subtitles feature?

Actually tourettes posted custom built tsreader.ax and dvbsub2.ax supporting subtitles. The subtitle filter is buggy though, so if stability is a must, then be patient.

Some bug / error posts in the DVB subtitle filter thread would be good way to get the filter improved :D Currently I haven't seen any issues in my own testing with limited test material so it's hard to improve it without the feedback from you guys.

Also please keep the subtitle filter talk in the other thread as this thread is only ment for the TsReader filter, thanks.

MP becomes unresponsive while using videotext

    Hi,

I am using Cyberlink codecs with TT S2-3200 and SVNs
    MediaPortal-svn--07-23-2007--01-01-Rev15291.exe
    tvengine3-07-23-2007--20-36h--Rev15304.zip

Also, I have the following option selected within the MyTV plugin:
    - "Prefer AC3" (I know I shall not activate it but it works fine beside of a few scratchy noises during channel switching)
    - "Try to avoid seeking..." (I have this enabled because it fixes the "black screen" issue when switching between scrambled and FTA channels).
    All other options are disabled!

Today, Live TV was running fine until I have used the video text. First it worked okay but after some pages, MP became unresponsive. In the attached tsreader.log you see millions of times the following:
    24-07-2007 21:34:08 MultiFileReader::no file

Finally I had to kill MP and shut down my PC.
After next startup, the TVServer did not start automatically (a problem since a few SVNs). Therefore, the logs might not be perfect....

    Hi all..

I finally took the plunge with this new TSReader filter..
    Using multiseat setup:
    MP 0.2.3 RC1 + SVN Revision 15307
TV Server + SVN Revision 15307

    - I have found no change in picture quality
    - No change in zapping times ( stil takes 3 seconds or so )
    - Nothing is faster or better.

    cheers

Well, I woudn't expect that much of a change for multiseat at this point for the actions you mentioned. TsReader will provide you a more stable and efficient way for multiseat when ready. The great difference is for singleseat users that were using TsFileSource. Also, if the channels have different audio/video formats, TsReader should provide a better fundation than the old RTSPPlayer.

As for the channel change times, what do you mean by 3 secs? Thats the time the waitcursor is on screen or the time it takes for the image to appear. Does the image appears right after the waitcursor disapears or a couple of seconds after?

    Hi all.

After 3 days (or better evenings) "prime time" usage of the new filter here are my current results: (based on Cyberlink PDVD 7.3.3104a)

    • The timeshift bug is gone with the latest builds (I use the 15307 now).
    • The filter becomes much more reliable.
    • The lib sync seems to be much better than with the old filter.
    • Pretty rarely the sound was missing after channel change or skipping. Change the channel again or skip again fixed it.
    • Once the image starts to stutter and becomes completely stuck after a few hours of watching TV. After closing MP I saw an error message regarding the MediaPortal.exe. After starting MP again everything was fine again. Unfortunately I was not able to save the logs because my wife want to see TV ;)
    • Fastforward/backward is really slow... only a new picture every few seconds.
    • Switching from a scrambled channel to FTA still produces a black screen. When switching back to the scrambled channel everything is fine. (I will try to post some log about this issue)

    Bye
    Lars

    Hi!

    I have one question.

My setup is a single-seat, with latest SVNs of TV server and MediaPortal itself, daily updated.

How can I confirm that MediaPortal is using new TSreader.ax instead of TSFileSource.ax?

MediaPortal playing looks almost the same as before creating useTsReader.txt on c: drive and graph in GraphEdit also looks unchanged. In logs which are set to info level I can't see any reference to new tsreader.ax filter being used.

    Can someone help, please?

Ok... When changing channel, the wait cursor may or may not even appear.
Channel changing is eratic at best of times. By that i mean that the channel you are watching freezes up, then stutters, then black screen and finally the new channel. Actually, it's more like 4 seconds.
    Nothing smooth about it.

I must admit though, that i have not noticed any stuttering when watching TV, whereas before it use to do it quite regularly.

FFW & REW do not work. The image freezes just like pausing.

The latest SVN seems very stable actually. The server use to freeze up on a daily basis, but so far so good.

It seems that switching cards does not cleardown/remove or reuse the Nvida condec, just creates a new...had it up to about 7 icons on the task bar before it crashed.

Tested last night with SVN 15307, can confirm 'Infinite Nvidia Icons' issues is fixed thought I still get the occasionally 'no sound' when changing channels, fixed by selecting the audio stream.

All is looking very good, so good that I have now switched this filter on permanently. Did have a crash after watching about 2hrs on TV...this is Mediaportal.exe error, TV keeps running until you acknowldge the error and MP exits.

Also noticed an issue when changing from HD to SD, fixed but toggleing TVon.

Will do a more controlled test with latest SVN's tonight and capture the logs if the problems are repeatable.

    Cheers

    I love the new filter!
The client on the server responds much faster (channel changing in about 1 second) and the timeshift problems I had are over. I've just used it a few hours and have not found a bug yet.

On a remote client channel changing takes a lot longer. About 4 seconds. With the old filter the timeshift buffer kept running after stopping a client. That doesn't happen anymore with this filter.
