mcraenz :

I aint doing anything else but anylizing my logs :)

I don't think the perfomance issue comes from the TV server. When timeshifting manually from the TV-setup it's really fast, within a "flash" it's timeshifting.Maybe even that process could be more optimized, but since im not a developer i can't say if this is possible.

I really think it all comes from the TSreader. Maybe there's still some debug code in it wich needs to be cleaned. But the same here as above: im not a developer.

No bad things about everyone wich is helping/coding on this project. But I think MP is getting slower and slower. Offcourse, there's much more functions in it then a year ago. But it's getting much more slower then functions are added.

Maybe now it's the time to stop adding features and getting more focus on the overal performance of mediaportal. So when MP 0.2.3.0 final is released it's an amazing fast application.

These are just my ideas on this, im not telling the dev's what to do :)

You're not writing the TimeShift file to a external (USB/Firewire) drive? I can imagine that would slow down the zap speeds drastically.

Bram.

No its no external media. It's an Ramdisk from SuperSpeed. But it doenst matter if its on a ramdisk or just a plain harddisk.

    TSReader log files

    Hi,
I've just updated to the latest TVserver and MP SVNs. I thought I would give the new ts reader a try. I've created the text file in c:\, everything seems to still work. However I don't seem to be getting a log file for the new tsreader. I noticed that in my MediaPortal log file that without the text file when watching tv there are entries referring to TSStreamBufferPlayer9 and with the text file these are replaced by entries for TSReaderPlayer, so I'm assuming that I am using the new reader. So should I have a log file in c:\?

    Thanks

    Andy

EDIT: SORRY, it turns out the bug was related to a not properly disabled dvbsub2.ax filter. tsreader.ax alone does not exhibit symptoms below.

    Historic text:
    ---
The supposedly fixed "infinite nvidia icon" bug has reappeared under certain circumstances.
Situation: 1 DVB-T card and 1 DVB-C card. Both cards can tune channels with mpeg1 and mpeg2 audio.

Zapping back and forth between cards directly produces no infinite icon behavior (irrespective of audio format).

Zapping from mpeg1 to mpeg2 on same card leads to audio disappearing for about 10 s. When zapping to channel on other card after disappearing audio, an extra nvidia icon pops up.

Repeatedly zapping between mpeg1 and mpeg2 audio channel on same card eventually leads to MP hanging. Logs attached (EDIT: removed as bug not related to tsreader).

I will try previous versions of tsreader.ax to locate when the "nvidia infinite icon" bug reappeared, stay tuned.

EDIT: Sorry, same mistake as in post above.

Hmm, using tsreader.ax from svn15307 with svn15417/15418 of tvengine3 and MP, shows the same behavior. It guess the infinte nvidia icon bug was only half fixed (video fixed, audio not?).

I have still the problem that seeking in recorded show does not work with the new TS filter:

    - I play a recorded show, press "skip forward" and after a second I the playing stops and I'Äm returned to the "recorded shows" screen.
    - Same with fast forward or rewind
    - When I access the folder on which the records are stored from the "myMovies" module, I can play and seek without problems.

Multiseat setup. Logs attached. SVN 15426.
Seeking in timeshift buffer works fine.

Not sure if this is related, but your log is showing errors when building the graph:

2007-08-04 22:30:15.749875 [Info.][MPMain]: DirectshowUtil. Failed to add filter:Default DirectSound Device to graph :Klasse nicht registriert (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)) mscorlib at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.BindMoniker(IMoniker pmk, UInt32 grfOpt, Guid& iidResult, Object& ppvResult)
    at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.BindToMoniker(String monikerName)
at DShowNET.Helper.DirectShowUtil.AddAudioRendererToGraph(IGraphBuilder graphBuilder, String strFilterName, Boolean setAsReferenceClock)

    Some audio issue?

Also are you using some plugin? Try disabling it (just to be sure).
