Need some help if poss guys.

i am running mediaportal on a AMD Phenom 1075, MSI Motherboard, 4gb RAM, XFX HD 5450.
i installed SAF 5.0 and tried to double click a video file (normal divx one) and media player classic opened... then closed.. no error messages.

so i uninstalled... and installed SAF 4.0 and i got the same result.

I uninstalled and installed DIVX codec from divx.com.. and XVID Codecs.. worked fine!
but no support for the H264 higher quality videos and mp4s.

i cant seem to tell mediaportal to use these codecs.. maybe i am getting lost in the config..
but when i try and launch movies in mediaportal it complains about codecs.. (AAC and other things?)

I'd like to use the SAF suite as its so recommended on here.
but i just cant get past this crashing error!

please can anyone help.. either SAF Route or other!
would be much appreciated

Si

Make sure you didnt enable audio passthrough durning SAF install.
What happend is you open your video in Graphstudio?
Post your SAF logs (look on system root).

Re: Help!- Video Playback crashing after installing SAF 4.0 Stable (and 5.0 Experimen

Definitely didnt enable audio passthru as i knew i wouldnt need that.
i got the same thing in the graphstudio application.

i tried uninstalling Catalyst Control Center and all that ATI Malarkey... then only reinstalling the driver itself from the latest download
and that made no difference.

its weird as the divx official codec seems to play ok.

i will post up them SAF Logs when i get back home.
if there is anything else you suggest i try when i get back.. let me know.
i was literally banging my head against the wall last night trying to get it working.
had to go take my anger out on some innocent zombies instead.

Re: Help!- Video Playback crashing after installing SAF 4.0 Stable (and 5.0 Experimen

When you tested SAF, did you first uninstalled all previous codec? This is important and you have everything you need in SAF.
The GraphStudio test will probably show you what happens, try it when you can.

where do i get/find that?
Filmerit (like Graphstudio) is part of SAF. START - SAF - Tools - filmerit.

That should not cause any problem.

Open your non working video in graphstudio and play it - does it work?
