Dedicated TV server
Core duo E2180, 2GB RAM, Hauppauge 500pvr, Hauppauge wintv DVB-S/S2
TVEngine 1.0 RC1

HTPC
pendium D 2.6Ghz, 1GB RAM, PowerColour (ATI) HD 3650, MediaPortal 1.0 RC1

No SVNs on either PC.

I hope someone can help. When watching sat channels provided by the DVB-S/S2 card I have a flashing blocky interference on the picture. (Freeview channels are fine). I've tried powerDVD, bought CoreAVC and ATICodec all with the same results. The sat dish is fine with my sky box and TVEngine reports signal strength of 92%.

The picture attached is from BBC HD where the problem is much worse. On SD channels the problem persists but is not so bad.

Does anyone have any ideas, surely someone has had this issue too!

I have three other PCs around the house that all run MP and are clients of the TVServer and they suffer this too! One of them has an nvidia gfx card so I'm 110% certain this is not a MP client issue, the problem has to sit with the TVServer.

Any help? Please.

    Hi,

Have you tried any other DVB viewing software? Just to rule out if it's a problem with Mediaportal / TV-server.

Do you have this problem also with recorded TV?

what do you suggest? ideal for free as I'll run it once and then never again.

Used cyberlink power cinema and it works fine.... not bad considering my tvserver pc only has a 9000 series ati card.

Guys, I'm using the astra cluster at 28.2E

    My settings are:

    DiSEqC: SimpleA
    Band: Ku-Linear (Universal)
No tick boxes (other than SAT#1) are ticked.

Come on, any thoughts on the above?

Also I've confirmed when I record a channel the interference is recorded too!!

    FIXED IT.

Warning to all nova hd s2 users. I thought the card was ok because it worked fine in cyber cinema that came with the card.... however, upgraded the drivers from stock cd to this years drivers (downloaded from the hauppauge site) and now it works fine in MP.

Yeah but in my MP experience if something works, without strange crashes, quality issues or weird behavior you leave it the hell alone :) and thats what threw me, the fact the card worked great with its own software.

That is the problem with bespoke software from the manufacturer, it usualy has work arounds for weak/poor/buggy initial drivers.

If ,although, latest BDA drivers work fine in the industry standard MS MCE and VCE and have serious problems in MP then we have something to look into and test/de-bug. Having said that MS have been known to make some stupendous errors.

Good to know your system is now running good :)
