Hi. i have a little problem with my new setup.

I can run TV server and TV client in the same computer perfectly but when i try to connect with my vista laptop mp freezes.

I have disabled firewall and UAC in vista.

I try to connect with VLC but cant get it to work either.

can someone help me??? i have tried in VLC the following...

    rtsp://htpc/stream1.1
    rtsp://htpc/stream1.0
    rtsp://192.168.1.6/stream1.1
    rtsp://192.168.1.6/stream1.0

how can i test if its a firewall issue? i get epg, can schedule recordings perfectly in the vista laptop, but cant watch.

the logs dont say much i think...

    quote..

    Hi,
Vispen74, download & replace StreamingServer.dll in "Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server" Folder(remember to stop/kill TVServer first. Seems like a bug has sneaked in during filter movement.

Is your laptop wireless. If so have you tried with a network cable plugged in. Some Wireless routers do some strange things....

Hi Charli181, my laptop is not wireless.

any ideas on how to fix it? the logs dont show any strange thing, right?

is there any way to find out if its firewall related? Vista/xp/ or router?

    thanks

Hey, I have the same problem!
When running MP on the same computer as the TV server it works fine.

However, with MP on a different computer connecting to the TV server, when I press TV On it just freezes.
It's retrieving program information/guide and stuff so I know it's connecting.
I tried disabling the firewalls on both machines, but noticed no difference.
Both machines are running XP SP2 and are connected via a wired router.

    Hi both of you

how can i test if its a firewall issue? i get epg, can schedule recordings perfectly in the vista laptop, but cant watch.

If you can do above it does not sound like a firewall issue, if you allow TVServer on one m\c as a firewall exeption and same for mediaportal on the client m\c it can then only be the routers firewall, which you can test by turning it off.

PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall

Above will give you a guide for various routers, if only for accessing them and setting up.

if vlc will not show video unlikely that MP will.

Also have you got the latest version of Visual studio 2005sp1 installed as it is updated from the one with MP0.2.3.0

hi, in which pc do i need to install visual studio?

i have checked my router firewall and it was disabled, i have even tried with anther router and no luck.

i cant understand what the problem is.

should i be able to use VLC in the same server computer where tvserver is installed ? should it work ? im going to check it now. i guess that if it does not work then its not a router / firewall problem, right?

thanks for your help, and any other feedback is appreciated !

I tried using the patch found in here, which gave me a picture for a few seconds but then MediaPortal crashed and on the server TVServer suddenly started chomping on memory and then after consuming all it could, died. At least I know the two are talking to each other.
    Patch Post Link: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/get-support-90/no-tv-client-pc-36803/#post249965

Going to try importing the channel list from 18080 into a later version and see what happens hopefully sometime this week!
