I was searching google for ways to get an Australian EPG into myHTPC (now Meedio). The result was samul337's thread in these forums......

This was during my research of HTPC software late last year. Meedio, at the time, looked sufficient for me and appeared to work well. After a few weeks of productive HTPC use, some DVDs would not play properly. Then, one of my Wife's TV shows failed to record - that broke the camels back! (My fault - Meedio's TV module is beta software and should not be used in productive environment, but I needed to justify my HTPC purchases somehow!!)

So, HTPC has been offline for a week while I re-installed entire system. Meedio was having problems with sound / playback, so I decided to research alternatives. MCE2005 was on the cards, but decided to give MediaPortal a proper try.

0.1.0.7 had some issues (for me), particularly with FF/RW in DVD playback, and of course the playback of recorded TV did not work.

With 0.1.0.8, these issues are all gone. I have the codecs set up as fer the Tips & tricks (no ffdshow, my P41.8 doesn't seem to like it), but testing over the last few days has showed a very stable TV module. DVD playback is also pretty good, but I need to try with several DVDs first. A few more days of testing and if no issue, the HTPC may go back to the living room...

Better go vote now!

I learned about MP on the XBMC Forum.
Also, the reason I built a HTPC is just because I have trust in Frodo, Mario and the others of the team.

Thanks guys! :D

I found Media Portal by doing a search on sourceforge.net.

I tried another program I found there and I couldn't get it to work with ogg vorbis files so I started looking. The difference between the two packages is amazing!

Media Portal rocks! Now if I can just get a new version that doesn't crash on my machine... :(

    Google is your frend ...
It all started because our vcr got broken. I bought a ATI all in wonder card and plugged it in my office computer. Over time i tested several frontends and not a single one supported ATI exept ATI Multimedia Center. Settled to myHTPC but googled another solutions quite often.

Found mediaportal, bought rest of HTPC hardware and installed mediaportal. Still no support to ati aiw but heck of better usability.

PS: Last night i managed to create a graph using timeshift with ati aiw directshow filters. Did sent it to Mars. Things are looking better :)
