Thanks, but actually that doesn't work. You need to map it to "Show GUI." That did it!

How can I make it go fullscreen using a Windows Media Remote?

MP Config -> Remotes

Edit mappings

Map desired button to window ID#2005 ie fullscreen video
I think that should work.
If your remote uses key shortcuts then map desired button to 'x' key
