HOWEVER unfortunately for me though MP is jumping correctly to the times indicated in the comskip edl file the values comskip has calculated are totally wrong! :( .
I was testing using a sky broadcast that has a logo during the program that disappears during ads, so thought it would work fine. I'm about to start googling to see if this can be improved but if anyone has any insight into getting it to work well with UK Freeview terrestrial I'm all ears.

---Here's my edl file (I've converted the seconds in edl file to mins:secs so I can jump to that pos in playback and see how wrong it is
196.72 266.80 0 3:16 - 4:26
393.76 474.48 0 6:33 - 7:54
998.60 1167.16 0 16:38 - 19:27
2207.68 2298.00 0 36:47 - 38:18
3797.72 3813.40 0 63:18 - 63:33
3948.24 3948.28 0 65:48 - 65:48

ads SHOULD BE HERE! (manual check)
16:39 - 21:14
41:20 - 45:56
etc...

OK I may not get time til weekend. I'm going to try some other channels first as well. One thing I notice on some channels (eg ITV in UK) is that about 3 mins prior to ads this stripey pattern appears at very top of picture that gets smaller then disappears just before ads, like as if it's deliberately telling you when the ads are? It'd be nice if they always broadcast an indicator. I haven't watched ads in years, even prior to PVR's I used to always mute them, even when I was at someone else's house!

cannot get MP to automatically load comskip though. There is a comskip plugin in the TV server config AND in the MP config... Which one do I need to enable?

If using TVServer, then that is the plugin to activate.

MP config\general make sure you have the use comskip to skip adverts enabled.

Yep, had the plugin active and the setting active in the program... The issue was, comskip wasn't even launching or processing.

Strange now it seems to be working fine. I haven't done anything different. Just scheduled a recording while I was at work and when I came home and watched, it had no adverts.... WOW... It's like magic ;)

That basically completes my media center so i'm happy at the moment.

:D

You probably need to set up a remote button mapped to the next chapter / previous chapter functions.

At work at the moment, so I don't have it in front of me...

Hope that helps,

Confirmed, working now. Helped out when I rechecked and laid out mappings again differently. I had those buttons configured in last installation correctly and did configure them in this 1.0 RC1 installation again, before my last posting, but did do it badly. As default if you add window + action to layer, it is laid at the last one on the list. That is no good, one need to raise tvfullscreen up on the list. My arrangement is now so that tvfullscreen prev + skip is the first on the list. Then the manual skips work just as fine as in 0.2.3 :).

So :D to everyone confirming comskip manual skipping from chapter skip working!

Hope this helps someone...

Just some observations for using comskip with TVServer in a single seat environment.

If running comskip at start of recordings using TVServer recording TS file mode, then watching via MyRecordedTV does not automatically skip adds, and actually has the strange behaviour of saving edits till the end of recording and cuts that off instead.

Running comskip after recording has finished, gives a perfect automatic skip, all without having to leave the TV module within MP :)

This was tested using comskip version 79.132

I am running an XP HTPC with MP 1.0.0.0 RC2 with comskip79_143, and streaming TV to a second XP machine elsewehere in the house. I've been experimenting over the past week (with just the HTPC at this stage) with ComSkip and am truly impressed with what it can do, and with the concept of integrating ComSkip's operation seamlessly with MP.

I have followed the wealth of great advice in this thread and am now able to run a ComSkip test run perfectly (under the MPPlugins), generate VideRedo file for later editing, skip forward and backwards in both MyTV Recordings and MyVideos, but I still have two or three problems remaining that I just can't seem to solve (in order of frustration) -

    1. I can't get ComSkip to launch automatically under the plugins. Have separately enabled and tried under both the TVService and the MP Launch plugins. Unfortunatley, the problem has NOT resolved itself (as it did for Jestermcgee), even after full HTPC reboots, starting and stopping the TV service, scheduling new recordings etc, etc.

    2. VideoRedo can't find audio stream - On some recordings only (2/approx 10 so far), VideoRedo can't find the audio stream when I open the Vprj file. Oddly the .ts file I am trying to process plays fine if I open it without the VPrj file under VideoRedo and, as the error message suggests, just silence if I play the same file when the VPrj file is open. One of these two files was HD, the other just a regular SD broadcast on a different channel.

    3. Under MP config for the ComSkip autolauncher plug-in, the software won't allow me to choose to start it at the end of a recording. This problem is not reflected under the TVService autolauncher plugin, although despite retaining the setting OK, it won't launch as described above. If I select that checkbox and select OK to close down MP Config, when I open it again I find that the launch at start of the recording has become checked again all by itself. Not yet sure of the benefits of start or end of recordings, but thought this might offer a clue as to what is going wrong in 1. above.

Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    MikeL

Also experiencing problem nro 1 here with MP RC2.

Test works fine but nothing else happens after a recording ends or if I select to start comskip at start of recording.

    Hi,
Hoping someone might be able to help out. I have 1.0.2 setup with a dedicated tv server. I have managed to get comskip working and generating some .edl and .txt lists.
My problem is the clients dont ever seem to skip the lists in recorded tv. I have enabled the option in the client setup to automatically skip commericals for videos with comskip data.
Is there any way to automatically skip commercials in recorded tv?

Are you using multiseat? You can only get this to work if you disable rtsp streaming.

Yes I am using multiseat. I just had a quick browse on rtsp streaming and I will have to have a play with it and get back to you.
