I understand that one can configure his own remote control functions using the input mapping editor that is integrated in MediaPortal. Could someone please guide me through how to use this mapping editor.

No, I never found out. I bought an Imon remote. It can be used with any application that uses keyboard shortcuts, including Mediaportal.

Old thread, but I am also after help with re-mapping my remote for a particular module.

I figured out how the Input Mapping Editor works, but cant get it to map a remote key to a keyboard key.

Is the Key number the ASCI number, the microsoft keyboard key number, or something else altogether?

You can only enter numbers in the two boxes!

Hope someone can help

Regards

I've also asked about this before, but nobody seems to know the answer. One of the devs must know!

However, as in the case of user fltk who has an iMON device, which basically acts like a keyboard, you can customize behavior by editing iMON settings and/or MePo key settings (not Remote settings).

Here are two examples from my setup.

Ex 1. Configure iMON to send a keypress to MePo:
MePo uses "s" to change the Zoom mode during video. In order to enable the Zoom function with my MCE remote, I set iMON to send keypress "s" (very easy).

iMON Manager > Settings > Program Command > MediaPortal
    > Function = "Zoom Mode" ; shortcut = "s" ; RC button name = Live TV (This button was not used otherwise.)
On the remote I put a small label by the button to indicate the Zoom function.

Ex 2. Configure MePo to use a different key for a function:
In Fullscreen Video by default MePo uses Down Arrow and Up Arrow to do Big Step Backward (23) and Big Step Forward (22). This was hurting WAF due to accidental keypresses jumping the video position. Changing this function required editing both MePo and iMON.

I decided to reassign these functions to "," and "." On my regular keyboard these keys also have symbols "<" and ">". :D

Step A: MediaPortal Config > General > Keys and Sounds > Windows > Fullscreen Video specific actions (2005)
    > Big Step Backward (23) --> key = ","
    > Big Step forward (22) --> key = "."
Also made this same edit in section Fullscreen TVs (602).

Step B: iMON Manager > Settings > Program Command > MediaPortal
    > Function = "Big Backward" ; shortcut = "," ; RC button name = Replay (key looks like |< on remote)
    > Function = "Big Forward" ; shortcut = "." ; RC button name = Skip (key looks like >| on remote)

I have a bunch of other tips on this sort of thing, including editing xml file directly if you need to enter the Esc key!

Thanks, this helps quite a bit.

it explains why remote mappings didnt work, or in fact make any difference for me!

I looked at the keyboard mapping, and this is a little less clear, but I think I need the "window" number for the screen I need to make the changes to.

In this case, the "virtual SMS keypad" I can not find anything with a similar description in the skin files!

I will post a thread on the StreamedMP thread to see if I get an answere.

In the mean time I will make an experiment on another "window" and see if this will do what i want.

    Thanks again

    Peter

Ah. I think in this case instead of a Window ID you need an Action ID for a function internal to MediaPortal.

See this post for a file that lists a bunch of Action IDs. https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...ll-possible-actions-buttons-50036/#post341618

Look in the file for ACTION_TOGGLE_SMS_INPUT , I think this may be what you want.

    [edit]
For future reference, to map a button to a certain Window ID (such as a plugin) see here.

Many thanks for the answer. So far I've used Logitech's Harmony hub. This allows you to control all components (including the media portal). I have now contacted the Sofabaton hotline. It should also work here like with the Harmony. Unfortunately, not all of the IR codes are correct. You can also learn commands here. But that doesn't...

The only changes I see are: Updated Marcel Groothuis version of the plugin to now support Media Portal 2.5 I can't say anything about the functionality of this plugin, I don't use TV Part, but if there are any changes that can be simply transferred, then I can try. But I can't give any guarantees.
