Huge problem with MP2.3.0 and TV Server plugin (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I have a major problem with MP 2.3.0 and the TV server plugin. Since I installed MP2.3.0 the TV Server plugin just won't work. Even if I do a fresh install, when I go into the config and click the Plugins tab the config program freezes for a few minutes, and then it all seems fine, and I can configure it to use my server.

But once I start MP it takes a looong time to start it (between 2-10 minutes, it differs) and the TV isn't anywhere to be found.

I figured this could be some conflict from my old installation so I deleted everything, including everything I could find in the registry, and did a fresh installation with the latest SVN's from Nov 20, but I get exactly the same result.

The server side seems to be working flawlessly, I can manually trigger recordings etc.

Has anyone else seen this, and if so, have you been able to solve it?? I had no problems at all with 2.2.0 but I can't seem to find anywhere to download it anymore.

if you uninstall media portal and reinstall it you need to do the same with the tv plugin. did you re-install this after the 2.3.0 install.

I have seen similar issues, not necessarily the exact same ones, though. After fresh installs, in a client server multiseat setup, I forgot the rescan TV channels (in server), which was why I couldnt see anything in the client at first. After that was fixed, now MP sometimes starts (can see mediaportal.exe in the taskmanager on the client), but nothing is displayed. At first, I thought I did not run it correctly, so started it a second time. Now I had no display, but mediaportal.exe twice in taskmanager. Same happend with configuration.exe.

Finally, I figuered something was wrong with my way of starting the whole thing.
So went back and

restarted the server and the client completely, made sure the server was not in standby and then ran MP, suddenly everything worked fine.

I just had to make sure the server ip was correctly configured in the client plugin AND that the server was woken up from standby before I ran MP. Did the trick for me
Cheers

BTW, was using SVN from Nov 20 as well (both client on top of 0.2.3.0 Final and server/client plugin)

Thanks guys,

bigflause: Yes, I did reinstall the tv plugin as well. I did a very clean installation, removed every file on the HDD and everything in the registry.

Philmat: I haven't done a rescan of the channels since the TV Server side seems to work fine, I can to manual recordings from the TV Server GUI. It's the client side that just doesn't want to work, and I have rebooted my client machine as well.

What I find weird is that whenever I try to configure the plugins the Configuration program just freezes for quite some time if the TV Server Client is installed. It just feels like it's trying to do calls to the .dll file but can't communicate properly.

Thanks, I hope for more tips!! :D

I am not sure if this is related.

If MP is started on a client with no network connection when it is closed it stays in the TaskManager and has to be ended from there before it will restart.

Hey, thanks you all for your input..

On one of my computers I did a fresh install with the same versions and it's working perfectly now, I have no idea why it wasn't working.

On my other computer that i tested with I got it working by uninstalling MP completely, rebooting and the reinstalling.

Thanks!

I have a similar problem, I just installed the latest SVN on both server and client. when I enter config/plugins it takes for ever!

Looking in the log I see this error:
[Info.][Config Main]: Exception :confused:ystem.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond

TVserver is fine and works fine if I install the plugin on that computer, but my lounge room pc seems to have this issue. Im using MySQL, I have no firewalls. Hostname can be pinged.

What else would cause this issue?
