Beats per minute
Just recently I searched for some solution for quick playlist generation. During my search I stumbled upon a tool that analyzes the music for the beats per minut (bpm).
So I thought I try it and fill this hence neglected id3-tag.
I am not sure, if this will really be of any help for my playlist topic.
Anyhow, I thought this might be another rather unique feature for MPTagThat. As it seems, no Tagger can fill these tags. Probably most usefull for techno, trance etc. lovers
-------------------
The program I used is mixmeister
MixMeister Free Stuff :: BPM Analyzer
it is a one purpose application, analyzing bpm and writing the result into the tag. No overhead.
-------------------
A good (and topical) overview about the existing bpm programs and tools i found here:
BPM Detection information
-------------------
There is also a freeware library BPM Detection library
BPM Detection Library
the licence should be free, but last update was 2007, and I am not sure about pop-ups or if the library can anylyze in a batch or only when playing the songs.
-------------------
There is also an actively developped open-source alternative. Indeed this is a complete mix program for djs.
But maybe it is possible to isolate the bpm part. The project is C++ i think.
Mixxx | Free Digital DJ Software
It seems not to write the bpm to the tags, but that is probably not difficult to add.
