    Hi Ron and happy Easter,
I was looking into this, but I don't get the summary, nor tagline when I import a movie, but when I refresh from importer, I get the summary and tagline. Any idea? Find it rather strange because I'm using the same script, from the Importer or refresh from the imported films :(

These type of errors are impossible to diagnose without log files that capture the problem. The Internet had a lot of issues last few days with the largest cyber attack in history, so perhaps your connection to IMDb timed out on initial import. Or there is indeed some bug somewhere.

Switch MediaPortal into debug logging and try to recreate the entire scenario, so you import a movie, it comes up without summary and then you refresh it and it works. Then I can look at the movingpictures.log file and see what is going on.

It might be that even with MediaPortal debug logging enabled it still doesn't capture the exact problem, in which case you might need to enable MovingPictures scraper-debug mode. But do the above first, cuz it might be an obvious error.

I'm wondering if there is a way to modify the sorting for movies that have many, many sequels? For example, I have 20+ James Bond movies. IMDB+ will add the correct roman numeral to the title, but then some of them will sort out of order.

For example, it goes: James Bond IV, James Bond IX, James Bond V

    Thanks!

So, how are they sorted for you? I got all the James Bond movies aswell and for me the sorting is right. imdb+ adds the right sortby string to every movie e.g. "james bond 4", "james bond 9" and "james bond 5". And thats what all movies normaly are sorted by. Maybe you sort you movies by the title instead of the sortby string?

If I go into the configuration, it does say that it is sorting by title, but the dropdown doesn't have an option for sortby string. Is there somewhere else that it is supposed to be changed?

    Thanks

What version of MovPic is this under?

Open MovPic config and go to the movie details panel and locate the James Bond movies in question and look at the sorting value. They are configured by IMDb+ to become "James Bond 01", etc., but I have a sneaking suspicion that this is no longer allowed by MovPic and that it overwrites that again based on the title, which then would indeed sort IX after IV.

Will have to run some more tests myself, but more feedback on your conditions would help.

Update: Ok, just tested with MovPic v1.5.1.1487 and IMDb+ v4.8.1 and importing "casino royale.avi" I get the following results:

Title: James Bond XXI: Casino Royale
    Sort By: James Bond 21

So it still works (was afraid something broke from an update/new-method). So verify you are running the same versions and if you get the same results. If it still fails, then please switch MediaPortal to debug-verbosity logging, open MovPic config and send one of the James Bond movies back to the importer. Verify it indeed imports with an incorrect SortBy, and then attach the movingpictures.log file to a reply.

Since you said it was working, I looked around a bit more and i think that when I was seeing the sorting being wrong, it was actually through the amPDroid app and the WebMediaPortal.

So, it must be something with the MPExtended rather than with MovingPictures. I'm assuming that this is this something that should be mentioned in a request/bug thread for one of them, right?

    Thanks!

Yes, what they need to do is not only take the "title", but also copy the SortBy order from MovPic and apply that to their own sorting.

One of the features of new IMDb+ will be an option to select between roman numbering and 01/02/etc, which will also solve it indirectly. But proper SortBy support is something MPExtended/etc should have.

I'll check up with the developers on that.

@Oxan explained to me that natural sort support was indeed lacking in MPExtended, so I was able to assist by locating a natural sort C# function that has now been added. Unfortunatly that one has no support for Roman numerals (yet). So you will get the movie "9" sorted before "300" now, but have to wait a bit longer on Roman sorting.

I did find a C# project that does do Roman sorting, but the CPOL licenceing is incompatible with GPL, so I've reached out to the original developer to see if he is willing to grant GPL permission. Could be a bust as I had to guess on the contact info. Still anybody with C# knowledge might jump in and help, it is open source for a reason afterall.

    Hi Ron,
Here's the log, hope you'll find something out of it.

I see you re-imported "Django Unchained", and I see the following happening:

31-Mar-2013 21:07:38 Warn [ ScraperNode]: IMDb+ Scraper WARNING: English summary used, because no foreign one exists for: tt1853728
31-Mar-2013 21:07:38 Debug [ ScraperNode]: Assigned variable: summary_clean = With the help of a German bounty hunter, a freed slave sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal Mississippi plantation owner.
31-Mar-2013 21:07:38 Debug [ ScraperNode]: Assigned variable: movie.summary = With the help of a German bounty hunter, a freed slave sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal Mississippi plantation owner.

That means everything should work, but then later I see another scraper-script handling the same movie and indeed emptying out the summary. Infact it is not just 1, but multiple, as per:

    31-Mar-2013 21:08:00 Debug [ DatabaseManager]: INSERTING: DBSourceMovieInfo [title='Django Unchained', identifier='tt1853728', provider='IMDb+']
    31-Mar-2013 21:08:00 Debug [ DatabaseManager]: INSERTING: DBSourceMovieInfo [title='Django Unchained', identifier='tt1853728', provider='kvikmyndir.is']
    31-Mar-2013 21:08:00 Debug [ DatabaseManager]: INSERTING: DBSourceMovieInfo [title='Django Unchained', identifier='tt1853728', provider='imdb.com']
    31-Mar-2013 21:08:00 Debug [ DatabaseManager]: INSERTING: DBSourceMovieInfo [title='Django Unchained', identifier='68718', provider='themoviedb.org']

Some of those are for artwork, but it appears the "kvikmyndir.is" scraper-script is doing details as well and is still linked to that movie and undoing the work of IMDb+. It is Easter, so I did not have time to look through the log file in great detail, but this popped out to me quickly, so worth looking into first. Do you have like advanced MovPic setting enabled to auto-approve movies with a non-primary scraper?
