I'm interested in log files for the fast and slow changes (I need both the client and sever logs, so I can relate what's happening at both ends of the system).
Alright, I'll start wrting down the time of those slow fast channel changes and note the channels involved.

    Hi,

Here are some quick numbers to start with:

17:42 - 8 sec / SWR RP HD (Startup, first channel after switching on)
    17:44 - 6 sec / VOX
    17:45 - 3 sec / Kabel
17:46 - 6 sec / SyFy HD (encrypted Sky channel)
17:48 - 7 sec / RTL Crime HD (encrypted Sky channel)
17:49 - 8 sec / Sky Krimi (encrypted Sky channel)
    17:50 - 4 sec / RTL Television
    17:51 - 4 sec / Das Erste HD
    17:52 - 5 sec / ZDF HD

While it is clear that encryped channels take more time to be tuned, SyFy HD is tuned comparably fast with 6 sec while others need 7-8 sec. The Standard time for non-encrypted channels seem to be between 3 and 4 sec. It would be great if this can further reduced. The DD Card is set to "Stop" rather than "Pause". I do remember that I had changed this in the past but did not experience any difference.

What are the times when using UNC paths (approximately) ?

Now I am confused. I've not been using UNC paths recently and thought that you were interested in the RTSP files. Would you like the same under UNC?

Apologies, I misread your question. Please expect UNC results for the same test channels tomorrow.

Earlier in the thread you said:

Notwithstanding, a channel change time of 7-9 seconds, compared to some 3 seconds under UNC (when switching from encrypted channel A to encrypted channel B), is definitely a long time. Is there a chance to tune settings, e.g. reduce buffer times etc., to reduce the channel switching time?

...so I was interested in how much slower RTSP (with my recent mods) is compared to UNC paths. I can then compare UNC paths versus RTSP and look at where the extra time is being spent. I only have free-to-air SD DVB-T to test with, which has fairly fast zapping times anyway.

Basically I'm trying to speed up RTSP zapping - if possible - so that (ideally) it's almost as fast as when using UNC paths. I'm not trying to speed up zapping generally i.e. for single-seat and UNC paths - I've spent quite a lot of time on that in the past, and I don't think there is much scope for improving it.

For me it's random; like HTPCsourcer delay chrono, but its better than before.

    Hi,

I switched the same client to UNC and repeated the small test from above. Numbers in parenthesis are from yesterday's RTSP test.

5 sec (8) / SWR RP HD (Startup, first channel after switching on)
    3 sec (6) / VOX
    2 sec (3) / Kabel
6 sec (6) / SyFy HD (encrypted Sky channel)
6 sec (7) / RTL Crime HD (encrypted Sky channel)
5 sec (8) / Sky Krimi (encrypted Sky channel)
    3 sec (4) / RTL Television
    4 sec (4) / Das Erste HD
    3 sec (5) / ZDF HD

    @HTPCSourcer
Just as a matter of interest, how are you measuring the timing?
(In other words, what are your start and stop flags?)

I suppose client + server log files for the UNC case may also be useful for highlighting differences.
