    mm - azzuro is comparing a version he built from a recent work-in-progress Git commit (not intended for testing) with the binary I posted yesterday
    Yeah, I realise that now. The reference to MP2 was what confused me. There was a certain change that I made in TVE 3.5's TsWriter that I wasn't 100% sure about... and the symptom that I worried about introducing was display of the previous channel for a short time after channel change as described.

    Sorry for intruding.
    As you were... :)

    All contributions welcome - I just wanted to make sure no one was confused about what we were talking about :)

    That said, the differences between recent commits for TsReader have been small, so I don't understand at the moment how it could have produced the effect azzuro had seen....

    Hi Owlsroost,

    Thank you for your work. With the new TSWriter and the Reader also the pixelation are now in addition to the short stills back. These occur now very common. The attached logs are created with the new Reader and Writer.

    I then installed the previous times TSReader version. With this release, there is far less pixelation, they are now but also occurred in this version. I'll check everything now again with the old TSWriter whether the pixelation disappear and then test the new TSReader in combination with the old TSWriter. I will write about.

    At the moment it looks at least as if the new TSWriter produces pixelation with me. Both clients show the same problems.

    These type of messages in the TsReader log:

    demux:ReadFromFile() syncErrors: 752, bufferSize: 32336, filePointer: 1793781264

    ....indicate that there is still a problem with the SMB cache data temporarily missing chunks of write data at the end of each timeshift file - when it's closed (there is random data there instead). Using FILE_FLAG_RANDOM_ACCESS seems to fix most of the problem but obviously not all of it...

    I suspect that pre-allocating the file space (as TsWriter does, to avoid fragmenting the files) might not be helping - I have a few ideas of things to try ;)

    @Palm_Maniac - which ramdisk software do you use (for the timeshift buffer) ?

    (I'd like to try your server ramdisk setup on my test server)
