    Hello @edsche ,

I ocasionally experience complete crashes of MePo upon resume - a screen "MediaPortal stopped working and needs to be closed" is all that is coming up. Further analysis of the event and other logs show InfoServices to be responsible for the crash.

The reason is that the internet connection may not immediately be there. Could you imagine a version where the info download can be delayed by a configurable amount of time? In my special case all that would be needed is probably a few seconds only. Alternatively the pluginc could verify that the internet connection is actually existing before attempting to download information or some additional error handling should be added.

    regards,

I have nearly the same "issue" right now, but my client does not crash after the resume. But also the first refresh of the feeds does not work. With the next refresh of the feeds the dowload of the feeds works again.

Can you provide me a log? Then i will have a look at it.

    Regards
    Chris

Sure. Unfortunately there is nothing to be seen. I resumed the PC at around 17:55 yesterday and it showed the MePo crash screen, after which I restarted MP. MediaPortal.2.log starts at 8 Dec, 17:59 while the last entry of MediaPortal.3 is from 7 Dec, 22:02 - the error is not logged and can only be retraced in the event log.

As I said: There is nothing in the logs. One needs to retrace what happened in the event log.

Thats strange. There should be an error in the error log of mediaportal. And in the event log there is an error? Does it work, if you disable infoservice?

Hah, just wanted to take a look at the event log of the Client and upon resume - "MediaPortal funktioniert nicht mehr", Last entry logged was yesterday at 23:12

Take a lok at the app Event log and you will see the reference to InfoService. No crash if I disable it.

There is a crash yesterday at 12:09:26. do you mean this one? And there is also another one at 22:58:48.

Can you check the caching folder in the advanced config section? Which folder is in "Feed cache folder"?

Also set the log level to debug. And then, if this occurs the next time, attach infoservice.log here.

Please attach furthermore the infoservice.xml. Maybe some setting is wrong :(

12:00-13:00 is the window for an automated daily server-triggered wake-up to perform a backup.

Caching is taking place onto a server path. The path does of course exist, but it may not be immediately available upon resume, although it certainly is when the client is woken up by the server

Ah ok, that should be your problem.I've created a new version which should fix the problem. BUT i didn't tested this one at all. This could be worse than before :D

But just try it. File is attached.

The safe way to fix the issue, is to use the local hdd for caching. I don't see a problem with this.

Edit: Now a recent problem of MP comes to my mind. With the current mediaportal version 1.12 there is a problem with slow start of MP and not available network drives. With this InfoService version, this problem could also exists there. I must look into this again.. :( But nevertheless, go on and try this version for now.
