Hello. 3.3.1 was just what I had been waiting for! My 2 biggest "wants" for it were the non-expiring login and access to "my videos". The upgrade when through fine, with the exception of the "gentle" error. (I remember getting that the first time I installed it, don't remember how or if I addressed it, but this time in the upgrade I just ignored it). My clients disappeared, but after reentering them I was pleased to see that it fired up as normal and worked. The My Videos is very cool! I was surprised to not see a bunch of my downloaded TV - but then realized that iPIMP uses the MP movie database, which my downloaded TV is not part of, so that made sense. (If anyone has any suggestions as to how I would "fake out" MP to think that my downloaded TV was really recorded TV - I'd be very grateful). Anyway...everything looks good except that the non-expiring login doesn't seem to work on my itouch. It works great through Chrome - but on the touch I still have to enter my creds every time, even after selecting the "remember me" slider to YES. Any thoughts on what to check?

Thanks for a great plugin!

I found on my touch, that if you login and then on the main menu bookmark the page and add it to the desktop (or whatever it's called) when you use the shortcut it doesn't ask you to login. Sorted :)

:D really nice stuff. Mad props to the devs.

How about the status of LiveTV?

I remember VLC not supporting the certain quicktime-container needed, or somethin being incompatible.
However may I ask - there are so many containers supported (well, not really), isn't one of em already workin, like 3gp?
How about using VLC or mplayer (both available on jailbroken iPhone OS, supporting some video containers/codecs/resolutions)?

As far as I know VLC still doesn't support live streaming to the iPhone in MP4 or 3GP - I do keep a watch on VLC progress in this direction. The aim of iPiMP is to use a non-jailbroken phone so we have to use the Quicktime player.
I agree with the non-jailbreak route. I actually have gotten my iPhone jailbroken, but I really think that the best way to go (with any program/webapp) is for it to work on non-jailbroken iPhones/iPod Touch.

Also seeing as how it looks like Apple is going to work harder on prohibiting Jailbreak. They did some stuff last week, filing a report I think to some law-instance, that was meant to prove that jailbreaking is breaking their copyright and therefor is illegal.
If this is the case, then using alot of time working on a jailbreak version may be wasted, if jailbreaking becomes very hard to do in the future.
Also, Getting it to work with the built-in quicktime player is the solution that will be easist for the end-user, since no extra software is required.
I tried installing the VLC-app on my jailbroken phone, and never got it playing anything - but maybe thats just me

Exactly - I'm trying to make iPiMP as easy as possible for end users - hence why so much work went into the installer (although more needs to be done).

To me - the best software requires the least initial setup/configuration to work . That flexibility should be there for 'power users' though.

Hi Cheezey,

I just read another forum thread about showing the Moving Pictures database on a web page and just started thinking if it is possible to do this through iPimP?

This was done in PHP, do you know if it is possible to read sqlite3 databases in ASP.NET? I only have experience of PHP/Apache web applications.

I just realized that the MP client database is probably sqlite3 so there should already be code in there to read from a sqlite database...

Would it be interesting to list Moving Pictures and MP-TVSeries via iPimP?

Cheers

I will be looking at Moving Pictures and TV Series at some point, there is an asp.net sqlite provider so DB access is OK, however none of the current iPiMP functionality uses DB access to the MP databases, it uses MP programming interfaces. I'd rather not get into writing SQL so hopefully these plugins will also have interfaces I can hook into.

I use both moving pictures and tv series, it would be excellent to be able to view the films and programs these plugins have and then launch one straight from the iphone/ipod without having to go to the remote control :D

Hi cheezey,

I had installed Version 3.0.1 (?) on MP1.0 and did some fixes by hand.
Everything worked fine after you gave me some support.
On the same machine I tried to install V.3.2.0 now.
The installer asked to uninstall the old version first.
After that it starts installing the new version.
When the installer tries to start the apache I get the following error:
iPIMP apache installation failed - Reason: It is already installed!
After that:
iPIMP apache installation failed - Reason:There is an error in httpd.conf
After that the installation finishes but the webservice ist not started.
Reboot and starting the service by hand does not help either. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!
Stephan

Can you uninstall iPiMP, ensure the iPiMPweb service has been uninstalled, C:\Program Files\iPiMP has been deleted and then retry the 3.2.0 install.

Hi cheezey,

sorry for the late reply - I have been busy for a while!
Hope you can remember my problem.

I uninstalled everything eaven MP Web Interface.
Deleted all the files and removed the service from registry.
all entries iPiMP have been removed
reebooted
no service listed

Now:
the first error is gone.
But the second: iPIMP apache installation failed - Reason:There is an error in httpd.conf
is still there

Any ideas?
Just tried all that with your new version 3.3.1.

thx
