Wow.... what a great plugin ...
I installed the v2.1.1 on MediaPortal 1.0 RC3 yesterday and all is ok !!!
I only configure the firewall on the tv server.
It would be nice to have a wake on lan option to wake up TVserver. I have tried the Awake Free utility from Apple store but it doesn't work.

What port are you using? the Mobile provider (phone company) may be blocking certain ones. just a guess!

I'm using default port 80... Can't believe this is the case here, hmmm

mate is there anyway that when i select a previous recording to watch and it tells me it hasnt yet been transcoded to FORCE a transcode there and then?

also how far away are we from being able to transcode on the fly and watch live, or near live tv? would love to be able to tune into Sky Sports News at wrok lol!

It already uses cookies - they just time out after 30mins of site inactivity (asp.net default) - look in %instdir%\aspx\web.config and update the formsauth timeout to something a bit bigger e.g. 10080 is a week. I'll add this as an option to the next installer.

I'll add the 'Transcode now' option to the next release - you will then have to wait until the transcoding completes, the time taken will depend on the length of recording, SD or HD and your CPU - also transcoding more than one item at a time has been shown to impact live TV streaming if it's all on the same box - I'll try and put a test & warning in somewhere for that.

I'm still looking for this holy grail - I haven't found any way of doing this with the tools available at the moment. It must be possible though as Orb do it and the recently announced Livestation | Live streaming on the iPhone | Download the free Livestation player - they obviously use proprietary technology though. In summary - don't hold your breath.

2.2.0 released

2.2.0 updates include

• Web - add option to transcode a recording
• Web - add transcode status page
• Web - updated some text to fix button alignment on record screen
• TV plugin - add option to transcode on demand (select never in the time field)
• Installer - add option to transcode on demand (select never in the time field)
• Installer - add option for web interface logout timeout (30mins by default)

Added the transcode on demand feature - this gives 3 ways of using the transcode plugin:

1. Transcode immediately - this transcodes when a recording finishes
2. Transcode on schedule - this transcodes all recordings on a daily schedule
3. Transcode on demand - this does no automatic transcoding, you select which recording you want to transcode via the web interface

My experience of transcoding indicated it takes 10mins to transcode 25mins of SD content - that's ona dual core AMD CPU with 1Gb RAM.

I am using iPiMP and Powerscheduler plugins with the Tvserver. I 'd like to know how to prevent Powerscheduler to power down the server while watching a recording on the Ipod Touch. I was thinking of activating a process while a session is open in Ipmpi and indicate this process in the poswerscheduler exeption.
