Re: iPhone interface for MediaPortal (iPiMP) - 4.1.0

I never had a look at iPiMP because I thought it was an iPhone application only available on the AppStore or something like that (probably also because I have some kind of allergy to all the Apple products ;) )

But recently I bough a Nexus One and I just though it would be amazing to control MP from a dedicated app. So I had a look on the forum and decided to have a look at what you did... it's bloody cool ! Works without any problem and lool very nice.

So I think you should consider renaming the thread so it includes the words : android or smartphone or whatever and not just mentionning iPhone, you might get even more attention !

Anyway thanks for the very good work. I'm looking forward to come back home tonight so I can also try to pilot my MediaPortal from the Nexus (I only tried the TV programming part so far).

Glad you like it :)

iPiMP certainly started as an iPhone interface - just because that's the smartphone I have. The navigation and layout is all down to a AJAX / CSS3 / JS toolkit (webapp-net.com/) which was originally put together for the iPhone platform, the developer of that framework however has been developing it such that is supports other webkit based browsers (such as those running on Android or webOS) and so iPiMP also runs nicely on non-iPhone paltforms.

You're probably right, renaming the thread may attract more users. 122 pages is also pretty long for new users to plough through, especially when many of the early posts were to do with bugs which are now fixed or feature requests which have since been implemented. I'll see if iPiMP would qualify for a sub-forum and get a bit more structure to its support.

Seconded for a sub-forum; maybe rename it WiMP (Web interface [for] MediaPortal). I use this quite extensively and it really get ppl jealous when I'm out and about and I go "Hang on, just got to set summat to record"....

Any changes for RC1 from the SVN version yet?

I think we should reflect this is a smartphone web interface - and even then it's not all smartphones - only those with a webkit based browser.

I haven't come across any changes needed for RC1 yet - but haven't done a great deal of testing.

I tried searching this thread but its pretty massive :D

The ipimp plugin is not showing up in my mediaportal config. I see the DLL's in the plugin/process directories. Any suggestions?

Have you enabled 'expert mode' on the configuration app?

Alright.. I found it. I was just not looking hard enough.

Now I am getting "could not connect" when I try to connect from the web interface. I have Enabled the plugin. I have even disabled windows firewall to see if that fixes it. Also, I have have tried creating a connection for 127.0.0.1, the IP of the computer and hostname of it. The ipimp software is all on the same machine.

Any other suggestions?

Can you send me your C:\Program Files\iPiMP\Aspx\App_Data\uWiMP.DB and your MediaPortal.xml
