ok, let me see if I have this right ...
I might need you to explain it again in a bit more detail...
PC 1:
TV Server & Client.
Has MCE device attached.
MCE device is attached to STB for blasting IR.
PC 2:
Client.
Has MCE device attached.
MCE device is for receiving only.
So what I need to know is, how do you want to control the STB from PC 2?
Do you want to use the STB remote, an MCE or other remote near PC 2?
Do you want to control the STB from within MediaPortal running on PC 2?
Basically, I would use either:
A)
MP Blast Zone plugin on PC 2 is connected to IR Server on PC 1:
PC 1:
Running IR Server.
TV Engine has TV3 Blaster plugin.
Client has MediaPortal Control plugin and MP BlastZone plugin.
PC 2:
Running IR Server.
Client has MediaPortal Control plugin.
Client has MP BlastZone plugin, but is communicating with PC 1 as host instead of PC 2.
This would let you set up BlastZone on PC 2 for controlling the STB.
or
B)
Translator on PC 2 calls IrBlast to PC 1 IR Server when it receives STB remote buttons.
PC 1:
Running IR Server.
TV Engine has TV3 Blaster plugin.
Client has MediaPortal Control plugin and MP BlastZone plugin.
PC 2:
Running IR Server.
Client has MediaPortal Control plugin.
Running Translator. When translator see's STB remote buttons it executes IrBlast.exe which is directed to blast an IR on PC 1.
Is one of those a suitable solution?
Or have I got something wrong?
Hope that helps,
Cheers,
Hi and-81,
Thank you very much for the suggestions and thank you so much for developing such a useful application, the idea behind it is really great as you can do lots of things with it.
Further to our discussion, what I wanted is to control the stb using its remote control near pc2. There is mce ir connected to pc 2.
By studding your suggestions carefully, I’ve came to a 100% complete solution:
PC 1:
IR Server installed with default mode and talking to mce ir connected directly to PC 1.
PC2:
IR Server installed with default mode and talking to mce ir connected directly to PC 2.
IrBlast.exe
Translator connected to IR server on PC 2, then translates stb signals to blast on PC 2 by using IrBlast.exe commands
The above gave me full access to the stb (accessing menus, changing channels, listen to sat radio and more things).
I used to have a wireless ir extender, but not any morebecause the above replaced it.
I was so excited I decided to include another stb using port 2 in mce ir on PC1. This time I wasn’t very successful, because Translator couldn’t understand the remote commandsit can learn the commands in “IR Commands” tab, but will not recognise it in the “Programs” tab. Maybe there is a problem in Translator plugin, because it recognised all devices I tried except the second stb (I tried tv, amp, dvd player and receiver and all worked).
Here is what I mean: I launch Translator. Go to “Programs” tab. Click on “New” button. A message comes up saying “Press the remote button to map”. No matter what button I press in the remote, it doesn’t recognise it and the message will timeout and disappear few seconds after.
The second stb I'm setting up is a Foxtel digital box, not sure of its model and cannot find out because of its location in the cabinet. But it uses same command as the included template called Foxtel Digital DC420NF (maybe it’s the one, not sure).
Thank you and-81 for all your efforts,
riadmelb
Ok men, I've found the problem with the hang of translator while learning IR, in the hall that I have the HTPC there are low consumption type lamps (SL from IKEA) and one of them is pointing in front of the IR receiver and make me this problem!!!
The fail is only in the last update, maybe because of new protocols implementation makes interference to the receiver. I have discovered it by chance putting between the lamp and the receiver to me.
I hope not to have more problems![]()
