That error looks like it's happening in the configuration, not at the channel change. Do you have any other log entries?

Also, you could try installing IR Server Suite, not the whole thing, not even the IR Server. Just the TV3 Blaster Plugin component. It has all the capabilities you should need and is being actively developed. Without IR Server installed it wont interfere with your IR device at all.

There is nothing suspicious in any other logs. I have the IR Server Suite installed but I have not enabled the plugin in the TV Server. I will try using that instead.

Hi, I would like to establish something but not sure how, could you please tell me if this is possible with IR Server Suite? Thanks a lot.

Setup:
Have pc1 as server+client and pc2 as client.
Have 2 mce ir devices connected to both pcs.
Have an ir extender connected from mce ir on pc1 to a setup box.

Challenge:
Would like to control the setup box directly from pc2 via remote. For example I’m sitting near pc2 and would like to access menu of setup box and do rescan for satellite channels, or do a firmware update.

Any feedback is appreciated,

ok, let me see if I have this right ...

I might need you to explain it again in a bit more detail...

PC 1:
TV Server & Client.
Has MCE device attached.
MCE device is attached to STB for blasting IR.

PC 2:
Client.
Has MCE device attached.
MCE device is for receiving only.

So what I need to know is, how do you want to control the STB from PC 2?
Do you want to use the STB remote, an MCE or other remote near PC 2?
Do you want to control the STB from within MediaPortal running on PC 2?


Basically, I would use either:

A)
MP Blast Zone plugin on PC 2 is connected to IR Server on PC 1:

PC 1:
Running IR Server.
TV Engine has TV3 Blaster plugin.
Client has MediaPortal Control plugin and MP BlastZone plugin.

PC 2:
Running IR Server.
Client has MediaPortal Control plugin.
Client has MP BlastZone plugin, but is communicating with PC 1 as host instead of PC 2.

This would let you set up BlastZone on PC 2 for controlling the STB.

or
B)
Translator on PC 2 calls IrBlast to PC 1 IR Server when it receives STB remote buttons.

PC 1:
Running IR Server.
TV Engine has TV3 Blaster plugin.
Client has MediaPortal Control plugin and MP BlastZone plugin.

PC 2:
Running IR Server.
Client has MediaPortal Control plugin.
Running Translator. When translator see's STB remote buttons it executes IrBlast.exe which is directed to blast an IR on PC 1.


Is one of those a suitable solution?

Or have I got something wrong?

Can you give me a translation of the error message. I think I know what it means, but I want to be sure.

It might have something to do with your OS being 64-bit ... but it could be because there are Vista MCE services running... I'll have to look into this one a bit.

The CopyData error in translator.log is fixed in the next version.

The ArgumentNullException looks like you have an event in the event mapper that is not executing because it has an empty command... I'll try to make it handle this more gracefully in the future.

Hi And-81!

I have the latest version of the script and sending codes are improved very much (before I've got problems with a Sony TV) but now with the latest version the MCE IR Device stops working after learn 2 or 3 commands.

OK I deinstalled IR SERVER SUITE and do a fresh install and do some screen capture to help you resolving this issue:
In translator I sucessfully learn 2 or 3 command but with the fourth command Translator doesn't learn the code and the only way to exit is clicking on the red cross.

If I want to create a new code when pressing the Learn button it tells me inmediately "Failed to learn IR"

And another crash is when I enter on IR Servers Setup (in the taskbar) and click OK the programm crashes completely here's the screen capture:
