    ok,

Use the TV2/TV3 blaster plugin to call the blaster exe file in the Select Command entry.

    For item 1...

Tell the plugin to repeat the "command" (in this case calling the exe) ... that should do what you want ...

    For item 2...

To make it delay before sending you should add a Pre-Change command. Make a macro with a pause (of how long you want to wait) and put that as the Pre-Change command.

    Hope that helps,

HI Aaron, I am now using Vista Ultimate with Microsoft MCE reciver blaster.
I have changed the registry settings to disable the default actions and also disabled all the media center services to be safe. All my remote handling and blasting is working fine.
I am only having one issue. When my system comes back from standby, the Input service doesn't start. I have to start it manually. Is this known issue? Any way to fix it?

    thanks

    hello_man:

I think I broke the suspend/resume for Vista in a recent update...

Given that my Vista install has failed again it will probably be a few days before I fix this.

    Cheers,

? So my questions are your answer? That's great :)

Sorry.. my wrong post. :) I wannt to thanks to anoter post.

    Hi dominique,
My LG Plasma is controlled via RS232 and IR Server Suite.
All you need is a "null modem" serial cable plus the protocol that normally LG provides in their user manual.
You build macros in the IR control plugin using "Send serial" commands according to the protocol.

Works like charm and is sooooo much more reliable than the IR method (and you free up one IR blast for additional device).:D

    I really could recommend it.
Tip 1, when creating macros, use only one macro for one serial command. Then use the created macro in other macros to create more complex macros, ie macro in macro.
Tip 2, once you found the serial setting etc that works, I found it easier to create the whole set of commands by copy the first one offline in notepad, rather than built them one by one.
Tip 3, you may want to copy the basic "one to one" serial macros to other macro folders for reuse in Translator etc.

    Good luck!

:D Perfect.. This is what I wannt. So i hoppe that i can contact you on the PM if I need help? First I must buy null modem cabel. Only what I need to controll on LG lcd is turn on and turn off .

Is there any guide or manual for building the macros? I understand some things, but I wannt to know more. bye

Hi all, I just discovered this great plugin, but I'm having the same issue as some other folks in this thread:
(i'm using TV3 server and the latest MP client, Hauppage 150MCE card)

    1. When disabling the MCE Remote in the MP config section and therefore just relying on the IR Server Suite, I can't get all the buttons on the remote to work. Should I just enable the MCE remote in MP again?

    2. A bigger problem is this: in the IR Server Suite configuration application I can properly map my STB's remote buttons and use the blaster to send the correct values to my STB. The problem is that when running MP, changing the channels does not blast the changes to my STB. My STB channels are coming into my TV card through the SVHS input. So in short, I have two channel groups setup: Analog (using the regular cable and 150 tuner) and DISH (coming into the 150 over SVHS). How do I tell MP to blast my STB if I select a channel from the DISH group?

    Any help appreciated...
    Thx

    1.
Go to the MP Control plugin and try changing the remote from MCE Remote to MCE Remote (Full) (I think, off the top of my head here).

The way that IR Server works you will have nothing but trouble if multiple "programs" try to access the device at the same time. So I strongly advise against that.

    2.
If the channels are setup correctly then you will need to use the TV3 Blaster plugin to change them. Assuming you have TV3 Blaster plugin installed and configured you will also need to make sure that the channels are setup correctly for STB use ... it sounds like they are, so if everything else is right then send me a log file (From TV Server) of an attempt to change the channel and I'll see if I can spot the problem.

Or wait a day or so and try again with the new version coming soon.

PS. I should mention that I have moved your post from the MCE Replacement Plugin thread to this one because it is more appropriate.

    Hope that helps,

    and-81:

I am still having an IR Learn problem that I can't figure out. Here's what I've got,

    Setup:

    MP 0.2.3.0
    XP Pro SP2
    Latest IR Server Suite
    Hauppauge PVR-150 MCE Kit
eHome Driver w/ Registry Edit (keys deleted)

    Problem:
    - Everything works great using the remote to control MP via IR Server Service
    - Every time I try to learn a command, it times out. I hold the remote 1" from the receiver, using commands from the MCE remote.
    - In the log (attached) you will see that my commands are always recognized, except when I enter learn mode
    - I can sucessfully learn and blast using HIP, however I always have HIP closed during my MP Config.

    Any ideas?

Is there anything users can do to help you out, as I know you spend tons of time on development and support. Can we contribute to any hardware you need?

    Thanks Aaron!

The way HIP learns IR codes is through Bruno's MceIr.dll. It is not capable of learning the Carrier Frequency of the code. It actually uses the long range receiver to learn IR codes, which is not as reliable as the short range receiver either.

The advantage is that it doesn't need to inform the MCE device of which receiver to use for the learning ... My code does try to use the appropriate receiver and I think that on the Hauppauge device the receiver ID might be different... I'll have to check the code but there might be some info in the MicrosoftMceTransceiver_DriverXP.log file that will help me... if not, I'll add some code in the next version to try and collect the info I need.

EDIT: I was thinking of Vista, which allows devices to have multiple ir receivers with different ID's... I actually think it's something else now, but if you have a copy of that log file from a learn IR attempt could you please provide it anyway, I'd like to see what the device is sending back on a learn attempt.

Is there anything users can do to help you out, as I know you spend tons of time on development and support. Can we contribute to any hardware you need?

I don't like asking for donations, so I have only ever spoken about it when someone brings it up... It can be very difficult to support devices when I don't have them, but I try my best. At the moment I am not working full-time and don't have any spare cash to spend on devices I don't need, so there's a few devices I'd like to get my hands on but really can't.

There are three things I've been thinking about getting... In order of how much I'd like to get my hands on one...

    1. Funnily enough, the device you mention, the Hauppauge PVR-150 MCE Kit.

    2. Any of the "Vista Only" MCE remote/receiver combos... I'd love to try and get one of these to work on XP.

    3. A serial or UDP IgorPlug... seems like an interesting device and one that I've never properly supported.

A while ago Opy was kind enough to donate the cash for an MCE remote keyboard so I could support it and the IR Server Suite now (for a while now) has support for the MCE Remote Keyboard when using the replacement driver.

As a side effect, the IgorPlug support should also work with an MCE Remote Keyboard because of the code I developed ... so there are sometimes some unexpected benefits from things like that...

When I was setting up my HTPC in the early days I ended up with an IRMan and then a USB-UIRT, then I got my Fusion HDTV which came with a remote and then I wired up my XBox remote before finally getting my hands on an MCE Remote... As you can see, the device's I've mentioned are all supported in the IR Server Suite because I actually have one of them. Everything else that is supported is done fairly blindly... That is, I can't be sure it works until someone tries it out !

Anyway, if anyone is feeling generous and would like something supported, you can donate via paypal or bank transfer or cash or by sending a device you'd like supported. I can't make promises on getting some of the more exotic devices to work, but I can tell you I'll try my very best.

As I said earlier, I don't like asking for donations, so I leave it up to the end user. The software I've developed is free (as is MediaPortal in general!) and if I wanted to "make money" from it I would never have made it for free in the first place. If anyone feels like contributing then get in touch with me either here in the forum or through a private message.

I should also mention, support for individual devices is provided though small plugins. If you're a developer and have a device that is not supported you might be able to contribute by writing an IR Server plugin. If anyone is interested in doing this, download the source code from the MediaPortal plugin SVN and have a look, it's dead simple!

And finally, there is experimental support for Girder 3.x plugins in the newer versions of IR Server Suite. So if you can find a Girder 3 plugin for your device you might also be in luck!

In the case of the Hauppauge PVR-150 device you could in fact use the MceIr.dll as a girder plugin through IR Server Suite !!! this would give you the same capabilities of the device that HIP has. As I said earlier, my code is superior to the MceIr.dll, but may just need a little tweak to get it working fully for that device.

    Cheers,
