I'm not sure how I setup my Harmony, it is already a long time ago :) I think I've used the same as you are referring to....

I have installed the Imon software, so I can not say whether that is really needed.

You seem to be following correctly, install IRSS 1.4.2.2391 (the latest version as far as I know) and select Imon in the IRSS config (follow the steps as on my website). Within MP Config don't select a remote, but in the plugin section you have to configure the IRSS plugin (follow my website again).

Good luck, and let me know when you encounter any problems.

By the way: I am still struggling with the standby/resume problem, which I think is caused by IRSS....

Ok, that helps. I will try again tonight when I'm at home. I don't mind that much about standby, I always do it by hand anyway with the power button.

Thanks a lot so far!

Solution for window focus problem

Hi Aaron,

I'm currently using my system in a multi monitor environment and launching MediaPortal via Translator. I've probably the same problem with MP not getting the focus as described by Risu here in an earlier post. I'm using Windows Vista (x64).

MP just "sometimes" get's the focus. It doesn't get the focus when:

  • The desktop is the active window
  • Another explorer window has the focus
MP would get the focus if I click on the task bar, especially on the Translator Icon in the tray. Replace MP with Notepad.exe, the issue can be reproduced as well. Notepad just opens behind the other windows.

As I see it, the problem is that Windows doesn't allow Translator to set the foreground window because Translator itself isn't the foreground process (see MSDN allowSetForegroundWindow for details, you've probably read this already). As a result we're screwed up because Microsoft decided so (see this story to learn whose fault it might be).

MSDN suggests to call

SystemParametersInfo(SPI_SETFOREGROUNDLOCKTIMEOUT, 0, (LPVOID)0, SPIF_SENDWININICHANGE | SPIF_UPDATEINIFILE);

in order to disable this behaviour. I added this ability to my ChageDisplaySettingsTool and voilà, all windows come to the foreground when using the remote. This should probably make its way into IR Server Suite, but meanwhile you can download ChangeDisplaySettings.exe 1.0.0.2 here

Open a command prompt and type:
Code:
ChangeDisplaySettings.exe --setForegroundLockTimeout 0
This changes the setting once and forever for the current user account (anyhow I managed to turn it off somehow while debugging with VS, but this shouldn't normally be the case).

Cheers, Jens

MCE Remote as mouse

Hi I have a windows MCE remote but when I try to map a mouse move to the remote nothing happens?

I have successfully mapped other buttons to various events and they work fine, its just the mouse issues.

I Have tried various buttons on the remote but to no avail. I am running windows vista business with SP1.

Can Anyone advise?

Thanks

Hi. If you have an Antec case, like me, you have 2 power button headers. One should be on the motherboard, 1 should be connected somewhere at the LCD/VFD unit (iMon). By default, this isn't done yet (hence the 2 header cables). What I have: header from the power button (right side) -> LCD unit (2 pins) -> motherboard pins.

Hope this helps...
Frank

Well, I have followed your instructions and made some good progress I think. At least MP is now responding to button presses through the Imon display IR receiver. But unfortunately a lot of buttons are not working. Basically, now only the arrow keys work, the ok button and the number keys. So:
Up, Down, Left, right, OK, 1..0

I don't get any response from the others. I have tried to set-up the remote as Imon pad and MCE remote.

Any ideas?

Thanks! I will check this with my settings tonight! Thanks for taking the time to help :)

I have tried something different in the mean time. I have connected an MCE IR receiver (USB) and selected that receiver inside IRSS (MCE). Now all buttons work! I have a feeling that somewhere in the path from the IMon IR receiver to MP, something is changed or gets lost. The remote is on the same setting. i didn't change anything yet, just the receiver...Does that tell you anything?

henk99, what is your iMON firmware version ?

    Simone

It is the latest 7.40.xxx It updated yesterday actually. it gave a message that there was an update available. It was downloaded and installed.

Sorry but I mean the firmware version ( you can find it inside iMON Manager - update or soemthing like that ) and not the iMON version.
