Need help with IR Server Suite

Hi,

I am new to Mediaportal and need help with IR server suite. following is my configuration:-

1. HTPC with Intel DG45ID, 2GB Ram, 500GB HDD, Hauppauge Wintv 150.
2. 46" Sony Z450 TV with HDMI to above HTPC
3. Media portal 1.0.2.0
4. satellite receiver with composite A/V (RCA) connection to Hauppauge WinTv150 in above HTPC (no other connection to WinTV). its a subscription type receiver with the company smart card in it.
5. currently using Imon Knob as remote but already ordered MCE remote with IR transmitter facility.

all the above setup running perfectly so far.

my requirements are:-

1. I want all my satellite channels on my receiver to appear in mediaportal, although I am using composite connection between TV card and satellite receiver so right now i am changing the channels on my receiver rather than mediaportal.
2. this requires the channel to be changed on my satellite receiver every time i select channel in mediaportal.
3. i want the ability to map channels on my satellite receiver to the channel numbers within mediaportal.

example:

1. suppose i have 10 channels tuned in my satellite receiver (channel no 01 to 10)
2. i like to have these 10 channels available in mediaportal so when i select channel 1 in mediaportal, it should change channel on my receiver to channel 1, and so on ....
3. pressing the channel buttons (channel up/down or numbers) should change the channel on satellite receiver.


I haven't started doing any thing to achieve that since i haven;t receive my remote with IR transmitter yet, but i need your recommendation and support on how to achieve this setup.

Please help me making the Mediaportal as my one stop solution for all entertainments

Hi raufiq,

You can achieve what you are looking for quite easily (by MP standards). There are lot of people like me who have struggled to get this working simply because the capabilities of both MP and IRSS is so huge that it can be overwhelming at the beginning. Search threads for IR Blasting. You do not need any replace mce drivers etc as they are no longer required in the new versions of IRSS.

I would suggest that try setting up your stuff once the MCE remote kit arrives and then post your questions in this thread.

I will see if I can get the screen caps of my setup as it is very similar to yours except that I use ForTheRecord plugin. It might be a good idea to take that up in a different thread than clutter this one with information that may not be completely relevant to this thread.

Give me a day or two for the screen caps.

Sorry if this question is mentioned before (i guess it is) but i dont really have the energy to read through 82pages..
I want to have control over my Receiver and Projector through an IR Transmitter within MP, like turn on/off and sending macros. Is this IR Server Suite the right way to go?
Also, how do i connect this ir blaster to my computer? I would like to have it connected to my Serial Port or USB, and in the other end of the wire a IR Transmitter. I want to build this wire by my self...
Is there anyone who have done this? Please point me to the right direction on how to build my cable, and how to set this up with MP.

Hope you understand what i want to accomplish!

Problem mapping arrow keys on MCE remote

Hi there.

I've recently downloaded IR server suite to use with an MCE remote. It worked really well first time with the exception that I was unable to reprogram the 'power' button as windows automatically interpreted this as a shutdown command. I followed your regedit instructions to prevent this (which worked) but now, when I try to use MediaPortal, none of the arrow keys work. I loaded up the MP plugin to try and reprogram these but failed at the first hurdle. Under the list of available buttons there were no 'codes' associated with the arrow keys and I can't work out how to add codes to these keys.

In the help doc it says "By selecting a MediaPortal remote button and then pressing the corresponding button on your remote control you can map your remote control for use with MediaPortal.". However, I tried doing this and nothing happened.

I'm probably missing something obvious but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone im having great trouble getting my newly purchaced harmony 525 remote to work. Or even my MCE remote to work.

A few months ago I had my MCE remote working then it stoped for some reason, I didnt bother to try get it going. but now I got a harmony 525 ive spent the last 4 hours trying to get it to work.

I am using the USB ir reciever for the MCE remote, I have set my harmony 525 to act as a mse remote, and I have installed IR Server Suite - Test Build 1.4.2.2943.zip and gone into media portal config and turned on the mce remote in the remotes section and told IR server suite to use a mce remote setting.

However when in media portal the direction keys and ok button do nothing.

Has anyone tried the same setup and got it going ?

Tried once again to use Translator from th new version to control my TV via RS-232. It still doesn't work, although I can do it using HyperTerminal. I suspect that IRSS is adding EOL characters, which my TV doesn't like. Can an option be provided for this? Can I get access to the source code?

Hi rsbrux,

Aaron is pretty busy with real life last months. There were not too much improvements and development in general since he was active on that. We try to keep up and running the most important parts and most used ones, but we don't know the complete system and it's hard to find sepecific bugs and fix those, as many part are not used especially by me.

So if you, and that goes also to others, are able to find bugs and fix them, please provide patch files. We are more than please to get them and implement them. So we can improve Aarons great and fantastic piece of software up and running.
