Hello every one

Just letting you know I managed to fix my issue. For some reason even after sucessive reinstalls up down left right ok buttens wernt mapped to any IR commands. The debug app showed it was recieveing the commands but nothing happend.

So i went into ir server and remapped the commands. And all is good now. Dont know how they lost there mappings tho,

Tried once again to use Translator from th new version to control my TV via RS-232. It still doesn't work, although I can do it using HyperTerminal. I suspect that IRSS is adding EOL characters, which my TV doesn't like. Can an option be provided for this? Can I get access to the source code?

Hi rsbrux,

Aaron is pretty busy with real life last months. There were not too much improvements and development in general since he was active on that. We try to keep up and running the most important parts and most used ones, but we don't know the complete system and it's hard to find sepecific bugs and fix those, as many part are not used especially by me.

So if you, and that goes also to others, are able to find bugs and fix them, please provide patch files. We are more than please to get them and implement them. So we can improve Aarons great and fantastic piece of software up and running.

IR files for SetTopBoxes, I'm trying to get IRSS to blast my STB and have scored the remote codes for it in pronto pcf format.

Now with version Version 1.4.2 Test Build 2943 problem with MCE is resolved. After starting MCE The IR Suite not working.

What option to choose at installation for an MCE remote? Input Service or IR Server? I choose first, it seem to work.

And also with this version another fix came , i use Translator, i add 3-4 programs, and previous version not know how to choose between them,
With this version all are good, i add 3-4 program, i start program, test, my remote working.Thanks,

I will see if I can get the screen caps of my setup as it is very similar to yours except that I use ForTheRecord plugin. It might be a good idea to take that up in a different thread than clutter this one with information that may not be completely relevant to this thread.

Give me a day or two for the screen caps.

In general nothing more than IRSS should be needed to get a remote working with IRSS. If there are exceptions we should collect them and list them. First collecting them here and adding them to the first post. Sooner or later we should collect all infos and setup guides in the wiki.

About your MCE remote:
It should be enough to install IRSS. You don't need any replacement plugins, or replacement drivers or anything else.
For the selection wether to use Server or Service, please select InputService when using an MCE remote.

After installation is done: You can (maybe you should) disable Windows Media Center services in "InputServiceConfiguation" search the for MCE remote and press configure. there you can disable them.

@all the others:
Once you got your remote working and setting up, it would be cool if you could make a step by step manual. For the start it would already help if you only write how your installation was done, what you other things you installed for it and which options you chose in IRSS applications.

Adding screens to those things would be even better.

So new users are able to set up IRSS with less problem, and we all will benefit from it.

Wow, i notice something huge, with latest IR ver on Win7, finally Mce services Stop, and remote does not respond at MCE. I must set my remote with IR suite to make it working in my programs, like Christv, Winamp, Vlc, Mediaplayer clasic, etc.
This is the only one application ( ir suite) that work without double push on Wn 7.

... the Input service does not work directly after bootup. On both machines I need to restart the Input service to make it work properly. After that it normally keeps running without any problems.

I only have an issue with the power button, it keeps putting my machine in standby.

I have the same problem.


After power on(not restart) Input service say "Device not found" or "timeout writing to device".
Replug reciever and restart IRSS service make it work properly.

And I'm too have to "keeps putting my machine in standby".

I've resolve this problem. It just need to run "Input service" after "HID Input Service". I made it manualy by 'net start "Input Service" ' in the "...\Windows\Run" registry's section. I think adding to Autorun folder link to that command will work the same.

But what I want to do is to have control over an IR transmitter through the Serial Port within MP GUI not via remote control, is this possible via IRSS? This because I'm using a Touch Screen and want to turn on/of receivers and projectors and such.
