I cannot get my mce remote to work with my STB. I'm trying to loosely follow this guide: IRServerSuite/SetTopBox blasting in MediaPortal - MediaPortal Manual Documentation , however, I cannot get the learning part to work and am lost because the documentation for this software does not seem up to date. Why is this so hard to do?

the blaster isnt even flashing or anything when I press the keys but i can navigate around in media portal with the remote and the mce sensor lights up when I press the keys.

Hey Slag, I had a very similar issue. I wasn't able to get IRSS to learn codes until I took the MCE reciever and plugged it into a different PC, installed IRSS and learnt the codes on that, then copied the "IR Commands" folder over to my HTPC.

Welcome to the world of IRSS. I have gone through the exact frustrations when I was setting up the blasting. That is the reason why I wrote that guide, if you can call it, which chefkoch was kind enough to make it into a wiki.

May be I can help you if you can give me more details.

I see that you are from US. You might be having a STB that is already prefined! Did you check to see if it is supported?

Please redo IRServerSuite/SetTopBox blasting in MediaPortal - MediaPortal Manual Documentation. In case you run into any problems post it here.

Thanks for the help guys. I am from the US. How do I get the TV Blaster 3 plugin to show? I downloaded the zip file and unzipped the pdb and dll into the tv server plugins directory and restarted but it will not show up. Do I have to have channels defined first?

First you have to install the IRSS. While installing it ensure that you select the option to install TV3 Blaster.

Next, start TV Server configuration, and select plugins. Select the TV3 Blaster check box. Now you should see a + sign against the Plugins. Click on the + sign and you should see TV3 Blaster. From here on continue as described in the wiki page.

After trying several versions of IRSS with my iMON remote (iPAD), I finally managed to get it working (almost) using this new version (1.4.2.3129). The only problem I now have is that IRSS cannot configure the remote mode (mouse/keyboard). As a result using the direction pad triggers corresponding actions in MP (Up/Down/Left/Right) but also moves the mouse and there is no way to stop it from doing so. I have unchecked "Enable keyboard input" and "Enable mouse input". Checking "Enable mouse/keyboard switch..." makes no difference.

iMON Manager version: 7.64.0930 (Thermaltake) (iMON is not running)
Firmware version: 0x380206 LCD HID OEM

Any clues what is wrong?

Sorry but this is a open-source free project so we don't have always a perfect timing and focus on all aspects.

Feel free to improve the guide yourself.

I haven't had time to try attached dll yet, but I don't have high hopes: problem exists before even starting MP, and log clearly shows IRSS fails to set config for remote. Unfortunately IRSS does not log the real WIN32 error, so no way to tell why setting config fails.
