Time for a status update...

Next MP version will contain the following changes in the ExternalDisplay plugin:
  • * Fixed the Windows Clipboard driver
    * Display is cleared when MP stops the plugin
    * Added contrast slider (thanks to jlb1234)
    * Added support for translating characters your display doesn't support to others (see config file for example)
    * Added Logitech diNovo Mediapad LCD driver
    * Added Girder driver (sends generated text to Girder by raising the MPDisplayUpdated event in Girder)

For the impatient that know how to build MP from sources: these changes are already in CVS  So start testing them...

Joe

Thanks AC - but I still can't find it to download. The only link in the first post is for an older version and the plugins page on MP doesn't seem to have it either - if somebody could kindly tell me where the plugin can be downlaoded from I'd be grateful!

My IMon VFD is not cleared either. Couldn't fix that for now.

The plugin is included in the installation of 0.1.2 and above.

Just go in "plugins" section of the setup and enable / configure it.

My Imon VFD doesn't clear either. I got round it by editing the elternaldisplay.xml file and removing the text that displays 'media portal' and the time. Now when I go back to the home page before closing down or going into standby (I have to do this anyway so MP wakes up correctly) The display is clear.

Not ideal but at least makes things look a little neater until it's fixed.

Hi,

I'm lost

I got myself a G-Lcd to run on Media Portal a month ago.

Config: LCD 240*64 pixels
-Brand: Solomon
-Controller: T6963C

My computer: Hp D530
DLportIO installed.
Wiring: tweakers

It worked perfectly on all G-Lcd programs except LCD-Hype. It gave me only shifted lines or garbage, dito on Media Portal. Turns out my LPT-Port was the problem (gor that from the forum). the bios on my Hp only showed EPP/ECP and didn't allow Pure EPP so i went for it and created a little vb code to switch to EPP. And you know what.. IT WORKS. On LCDhype at least. Since (i think) MediaPortal uses the LCD-Hype driver for the T6963, and the problem, before i created the Vb thingy, was the same with MediaPortal, i concentrated on solving the LCD-Hype problem hoping MediaPortal would agree with the solution. Now the stupid display gives me nothing on MediaPortal and everything on LCDHype.

I want Media Portal to work not only LCDHype

Can somebody give me a hint  on where to look?

Oh i deleted the externaldisplay.xml and reconfigured. Tried with MP 0.1.2 and 0.1.3-pre

Thanks,

HiT

I have the same problem with my t6963 240x128.
LCDHype and other software works great but nothing for MediaPortal.
Externaldisplay is delete and reconfigured.
A signal is send to the LPT but the LCD is garbage.

Hi arnaudcoco,

I solved my problem, Take a look on the LCDHype forum, I posted my solution there:

The tool LPTTest in the Zip file will help switching to EPP. I made myself a simple button tool to switch to EPP, not a beauty but does the job.

Found, to use it with mediaportal, i had to turn the backlight in the setup screen for the T6963C driver to On. I use the tweakers.net wire config. Don't really care about that. It works.

Hope this will help,

HiT

Hi There,

Can someone help me with programming the display of a Asus S-presso SP-111??
Is it possible to use the LCD plugin??
I don't know what kind of display is built-in the S-presso.

Hi,

The LCD Backlight remains ON when mediaportal is closed (version 0.1.3.0).

Hi HiT,

Can you send me this (you can PM if you prefer)? I also use a NetMos card (I didn't want the parallel cable to loop out through the back - keeps everything inside). I have problems with the VFD display (a 16x2 HD4478) corrupting after some period of time. Happens with LCDSmartie and now also MediaPortal.

Thanks,
vbap
