T6963C LCD 240*64 pixels works on LCDHype not on MediaPortal

I'm lost

I got myself a G-Lcd to run on Media Portal a month ago.

Config: LCD 240*64 pixels
-Brand: Solomon
-Controller: T6963C

My computer: Hp D530
DLportIO installed.
Wiring: tweakers


It worked perfectly on all G-Lcd programs except LCD-Hype. It gave me only shifted lines or garbage, dito on Media Portal. Turns out my LPT-Port was the problem (gor that from the forum). the bios on my Hp only showed EPP/ECP and didn't allow Pure EPP so i went for it and created a little vb code to switch to EPP. And you know what.. IT WORKS. On LCDhype at least. Since (i think) MediaPortal uses the LCD-Hype driver for the T6963, and the problem, before i created the Vb thingy, was the same with MediaPortal, i concentrated on solving the LCD-Hype problem hoping MediaPortal would agree with the solution. Now the stupid display gives me nothing on MediaPortal and everything on LCDHype.

I want Media Portal to work not only LCDHype

Can somebody give me a hint :idea: on where to look?

Oh i deleted the externaldisplay.xml and reconfigured. Tried with MP 0.1.2 and 0.1.3-pre

Thanks Joe for this smashing pluging.

It work well on my 4X20 LCD Xiamen Ocular GDM2004D (HD44780 clone).

I suppose that it's normal, my 2 bottom line don't work, no info appears.

PS: characters like é,è,à,ô didn't work. how to modify the characters table ?

Just a little more explanation pshdo:
If your display has more than 2 lines, start with setting the number of rows to 2 in the plugin setup screen.
Set the number of columns according to your display.

I can´t figure it out.....

When i run Girder with LCDmaster loaded, i have no problem with the display (Futuba 2*20 on COM1 btw.)
Then i have tried to load the above MP example file into Girder instead of LCDMaster, but with no luck.
I have run the regsvr32 girder.dll as you told me to, and that turned out with no errors.

I have tried to turn off girder software, still without any luck.

I don´t inderstand the meaning of installing DLportIO for this, as i don´t need it to run my VFD display (on com1) from Girder, but for some reason the MP display-plugin needs it. ??

Anyway, i have also tried in the MP display-plugin to use COM 1 and to use None as port.

I have set it To Girder Module V1.0 in the plugin-setup.

I have also tried it with "Show Property Browser" on and off, without anything happening.

The only thing i can get the display to show from time to time is "IRIRIR" (without the " ") - i think this is happening when i am in the plugin-setup page, but i´m not quite shure of that, as i just discovered it 1 or 2 times.

Can you pleace guide me a little more, as to is Girder software supposed to be running or not ??

And should Girder be loaded with the MP example or not ??

Is the Port supposed to be COM 1 in the plugin setup or not ??
(I run it at 9600 on COM1 in Girder btw.)

Anything else that can help me, would also be great.....

Ok i've modified the ExternalDisplay.xml to activate my 2 bottom lines.
My 4X20 work well now. COOL


I test de encoding iso-8859-1 for the french language but my lcd don't display the French carateres only chinesse

It's very cool your translation table (translateFrom-->translateTo)

PS: The backlight stay on, even after having left MP

what your futur developpement about this super pluging ?

Not necessary. The output port parameter is not significative in the Girder module.

The scope of ExternalDisplay Girder module is send events to Girder.

LCDMaster use DVDSpy to intercept events.

I have built a new GML file (please read my previous message in this forum to view a little sample) that it intercepts the events sent by ExternalDisplay Girder Module to manage my infrared remote control in more efficient way than the originals MediaPortal plugins.

You can extend my sample but IMHO, LCDMaster is an alternative solution to the ExternalDisplay Girder Module, not complementary.

Where do I download the LCD plugin?

OK, I'm sure I'm going to regret asking this but in the first
post of this thread there is only a link to the old version for
MP pre 0.10... where is the actual current version downloaded
from? I read and re-read that post and all the ones on the
first two pages and I could not see a link to get it - can
someone point me in the right direction please?

Also, does anyone have the iMON VFD working with an Accent HT-400 case?

LCD display Dign HV7SQ case

I build a HTPC using a Dign HV7SQ case. I use media portal for more than 1/2 jear and it is a great program. There is one thing i don't get working and that is the LCD screen. Does anybody get it working? and who can help me with this minor problem.

As you can see from my signature, I have a HT-400 case, and it looks great. Even better with the VFD displaying all the information. I took a different approach to Joe and wrote a plugin to use with LCDSmartie. Feel free to try it out, or use Joe's that works as well.
