I am thinking about buying Silverstone GD01MX. Will MP LCD plugin support its VFD?
I read somewhere that ppl was not able to get it working in MP.

Great plugin. I'm very happy with it

I installed yesterday lcd smarties to display winamp media info while playing music (with mediamonkey ).
It works quite well, but when lcd smarties is running and I'm switch back to mp, it doesn't show anything (winamp is closed, and I would like to keep lcd smarties running in the background)
Lcd remain black.
Does anybody have the same config with a working setup ?

I think only one program can control the LCD at a time so you either have to use lcd smartie or MP, not bot the same time.

hello, I have a Spectra FIC HTPC, is the LCD display supported by this plugin? it works well in MCE with its driver. I have also tested the MCE compatible plugin but it seems to freeze when it is time to record...maybe it is trying to lit the rec light but it fails. some hints?

I have a Zalman HD160 with the IR Trans Display. I see that the display is supported and I went through the setup wiki, but it doesn't display anything but the time and date. Is there any additional setup? Do I need to manually edit the .xml file?

Is there a property that says "recording" when a TV card is recording?

I'd like to add a little "*" at the top right corner of EVERY screen if a recording is in progress.

Since I'm currently reworking my ExternalDisplay.xml I searched for this and AFAIK at the moment it is not possible. The "Rec" icon you can see when you are recording something on the TV (icon shown in the TV osd and on the main TV window) is displayed using some hardcoded internal ID's (showing / hiding the control with Id 39).

Yes, it is possible to show symbol on the display, while the recording is taking place. I made it for my display and it is working fine.

However, you have to adjust and recompile the ProcessPlugins.dll and driver for your display. In the class MediaPortal.TV.Recording, there is a method IsRecording you can evaluate to indicate recoring that is taking place.

Support for Scaleo E/EV display

I have source for dll to control display in Fujitsu&Siemens Scaleo E display, and i want write (or send this source to plugin developer) dll for external display plugin (futaba used in external display plugin not work with my display). Anybody has a skeleton of dll to use in external display plugin?? Anybody help me ?

Hi leonh,

I had the same problem, so I decided to write the driver by my self. As I wanted to use also the additional symbols on the display, I included the display support directly to the ProcessPlugins.dll and customized driver API for the display VFD_Control.dll.

Anybody interested can use this adjusted dll that is working with the current stable version of MP (0.2.2). It will not work for the current SVN.

Copy these 2 dlls included in the zip to the Plugins\Process folder of your MP. You can now select in the External Display configuration "Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo EV VFD Driver". The 2 parameters that need to be set is the number of rows (2) and columns (18). Rest can be left unchanged.

That's it. Now your display should show messages from the External Display plugin and in addition Play, Fwd, Rev, Pause etc symbols. Also, it will show media type DVD, CD, V and the current volume. Next to the volume bar, there is Antenna symbol that will be shown when live TV or Radio is played. Last, but not least, the Rec symbol will show you, when the TV recording is taking place.

Please, bear in mind that this is the very first of the driver for Scaleo. Therefore, use it at your own risk. Any feedback is appreciated.
