No matter which tuner I am using, or which TS I am recording, all HD recordings are without audio. However, if I join then at the live point, I get audio.

This does not impact on SD recordings.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I think I had problems like this, I assumed it was because of AC3 on the HD channels, I think its a codec/setup issue and me knt knowing what I was doing with FFDShow

If you have one of the recordings handy, try putting it through gspot and see which codecs it is trying to access by default.

May just show the problem codec, which may not be the preferred one set in MP config.

I ran a recording through Gspot and it "rendered" the audio successfully with the DScaler Audio Decoder. It failed with the Nero Audio Decoder.

When I set MP to use the DScaler plugin, it still had no audio. The file plays correctly in Windows Media Player 9.

I have attached a log from a session where I simply fired up MP and attempted to play the recording. I couldn't see any indication of which audio decoder it was using for the playback. Then again, I may simply be blind to what I should be looking for.

I have set MP to use the DScaler audio decoder. Unless there is some reason why it isn't using the specified codec, I don't see why it would be using the Nvidia decoder.

    Hi,
From you log, this it's used

    Code:
    2008-03-16 23:30:37.984375 [Info.][MPMain]: added filter:NVIDIA Video Decoder to graph
    2008-03-16 23:30:38.125000 [Info.][MPMain]: added filter:CoreAVC Video Decoder to graph
    2008-03-16 23:30:38.343750 [Info.][MPMain]: added filter:NVIDIA Audio Decoder to graph
    2008-03-16 23:30:38.390625 [Info.][MPMain]: added filter:NVIDIA Audio Decoder to graph
Maybe your default audio codecs can't play & then best fit selects another one for you, as already said try ffdshow or mpa.

    Regards
    Roy

The log must have been taken prior to me switching to Dscaler.

Here's a new log. It is set to use Dscaler for both audio and video. Same result.
