Please wait before you put this in official docs.

If it is true that the SSD is the problem, then i will find out the next days.

I set up a ramdisk for timeshifting.... so if it was really the SSD then it should not appear anymore.

I will come back next day with an answer!!!!

It should be simply a "yes" or "no".

    :)

Merry X-Mas, and thx for your help.

It's mainly but not only timeshift buffer.
    Also, there are :
    - some windows and sql .log accesses than can stuck the system.
    - Virtual memory accesses.

My system is "globally" working ( XP ) without troubles with :
    - 4Gb of memory.
    - No virtual memory.
    - 256 Mb cache on C:\
    - Dedicated partition ( D:\ , 20Gb ) for timeshift with 256 Mb cache. ( With System Restore de-activated )
    - timeshift buffer size : 20 Mb, min = 5 files, max = 200 files.

@tourette, I suggest we ( at least ) advice of potential problem due to SSD. Probably next SSD generation will be ok.

    ambass.

@tourette, yes.. locked files problem was occuring with 5~10% chance with the SSD.;)

josch.hh, preallocating 256MB files can take a long time, the freezes due to this feature are removed using small buffers.

Until one day after switching from the SSD timeshift files to a 1GB ramdisk erverything is fine.
I will check over next days, but i think the ramdisk is the solution for me.

Allocating 200MB files on a ramdisk should not be so time consuming.. :)

But you may be right to test it again with small files on the SSD.

To end this thread i would say that the problem is solved by the ramdisk i use.

No more problems with hanging live tv.

    Thx for the help.

Mhm do you recommend small timeshift files in general? or only for SSD? For me small timeshiftfiles are always causing stuttering. I'm using 1GB RAMDISK Files.
