Looking for a Remote...that works in MP...and is available!!! (1 Viewer)

Have tried to configure (in MP) the remote that came with my TBS 6922 DVB-S2 card with absolutel ZERO success!
After hours spent messing with WinLirc....and EventGhost (...now that was a hoot!!....)....I have now given up, and it feels GREAT!!!

I understand that I now need an MCE remote...and to that end, have reserved this one.....

A bit of Googling suggested that...although MCE in spec.....this may give only limited function in MP..

So....can someone recommend a product...currently available...that will do the job...preferably in a P n P kind of a way??

I like that remote, it works very well, im actually ordering second one soon for my other HTPC. Only downside of that remote is that it don't have "backlight/backlid", so in dark it's harder to see the buttons. But it is very minimal downside.
It works with MP without any hassle, also wakes up PC from sleep.

If you feel that the receiver which is included there, is too big and clumsy for your taste, there is this (which I have also and working nicely):

If you don't want that remote/receiver, I recommend you make sure that remote is "RC6", that means it should be capable of waking up PC from sleep too, and I guess RC6 remotes are working "out-of-box" with MP (someone correct me if im wrong ).

Try to get a standard MCE remote or a RC197 thing branded OrigenAe, Phillips etc. I also think StreaCom got a decent MCE remote

My trusty Microsoft MCE remote started to fall apart after years of use, so I bought a replacement from this eBay seller: http://www.ebay.com/itm/221200188518?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

It was a PITA to find one for sale that had the colored buttons at the bottom row (The red one is=GUI/Full screen video and the blue one is zoom modes by default).

It's missing the top left power button (I used this to close MediaPortal) that my old remote had, and it has less text silk screened (Live TV, TV Guide, Recorded TV and DVD Menu) but otherwise it's just as good. I use it with my trusty black Microsoft branded receiver even though this one came with an Acer branded receiver, simply because I've been too lazy to switch the old one out.

Oh, and the price was very good!

I use Logitech harmony remotes with rc6 receivers. Logitech just works, best solution I have ever tried. Rc6 receivers are on eBay internal or external.

Finding a useful IR reciver is easaly done here, run by @AEOne here at the forum. I have bought a couple from him over the years for me and friends and they work perfectly.
Me and my friends all use Logitech remotes ranging from the smallest 300i to the 900 with RF system, for all of us this have been a rock solid solution.

Gonna hijack

I'm looking for an RF or wifi/bluetooth based MCE remote to control my HTPC. The HTPC is in a cabinet with a sliding door which must remain shut due to my 11 month old son playing havoc... I've only seen the Emprex one as being RF with a dongle... Are there any others around?
