The one I linked to has a USB wire in the back of the receiver, so you can use a long enough wire to place it outside the cabinet, but also well out of reach for your toddler? I have the same issue with my son, but I have glass doors on my TV furniture. ;)

It's just a shame that no one (outside of the Sony bluetooth remote) has developed a fully RF/bluetooth compatible MCE remote. I'm currently using a CEC adapter from Pulse Eight, but I can't get all the buttons mapped and hoped I could go back to an MCE remote to control everything without the need for more cables.

    why use rf
you should try to use RF remote - then you will never want to get back to IR :)
I use my RF remote (cheap one, X10 for 10€) and sending IR commands to my tv and amp via EventGhost + selfprogrammed Arduino. After 4 years i tried to use IR remote from TV, and realized that i need to aim to TV IR receiver to do anything (even though this remote has 2 IR LEDs beaming in different directions) - with RF you can control it without thinking where you have to aim to, sitting, laying, wrom other room (while listening music), etc...

I have had two previous RF remote and have RF keyboard too but using a Harmony IR remote with an IR extender with KeyboardInputPlugin is far far easier to setup and i only have to point the remote in the general direction of the tv. ;)

@Benoire read my post above, for wifi/bluetooth sorry no idea.

Logitech 900 with RF is IMHO the simplest. Just emulate MCE remote 1039 in harmony setup and just tick "Use MCE Remote" in MePo and you are done.
I cant think of a simpler solution. But then again it do cost you a few (incert currancy here) more than others...

    .....in stock...an 3 miles away!!!

I have the 14.99 one on a client machine, works without issues. I use it with KeyboardInputPlugin so i can easily remap button to whatever i like.

    ...Oooohh...,you've said the re-map word....hehehe!
I found EventGhost a total anathema to use.....so what is this KeyboardInputPlugin.....suppose it'sin the extensions installer??

Can you achieve all the functions you need for Mediaportal......?

Last i check its in the extensions list yes, any of the buttons can be used for any function, you just select say record in the list then click in the blank space and hit the button you want on the remote which then populates the blank space with the relevant command thats it;)
