I would be very thankfull if you could do a video of booting your system. No high quality video needed, just to see how it would look like.

Ok. This all sounds really good. its exactly what I want to do.

Just one question. When you need Explorer, (to upgrade drivers or whatever), after following all of these steps, is it still accessible?

Like, can i press WIN+R and get a run box to run it?

For those that have done it, how to you get to explorer once all the changes are finished?

CTRL+ALT+DEL -> task manager -> file -> new task: type "explorer.exe" (you may kill it afterward) or even better: log into an alternative user account, it may be wise to dedicate all your administrative tasks to a specific Windows account.

Ok. thanks very much for the information on how to run explorer

one more question; my remote (soundgraph imon) uses software to run. This starts automatically with explorer as shell. How do I set it to autostart with MP using MP as shell? (it it possible?)

PowerDVD works perfectly w\out explorer IIRC.

Generally speaking, only softwares that require to dock an icon in the sysbar are problematic. You may then use a capable alternative shell in this case, not just a batch file/script.

    bye

has anyone had any sucess with doing this, replacing my shell with mp throws an error mesage obscurred by the outline of splash screen so can't really make it all out, seems to be something to do with rendering

    Short cut?

CTRL+ALT+DEL -> task manager -> file -> new task: type "explorer.exe" (you may kill it afterward) or even better: log into an alternative user account, it may be wise to dedicate all your administrative tasks to a specific Windows account.

The task manager shortcut is ctrl-alt-esc. I believe this works even when explorer is not running (or has crashed).
