I think that the priorities need to be assessed.. I mean, the most important thing is.. what will you name it? :D

EDIT: since you're going for that minimalist type theme.. should keep the name simple too.. like..

and i vote against your vote it since MP GUI is not an eyesight test. :p

ofc. those which use it on monitors won't need big fonts because they have a viewingsitance of 30-40cm, but those who use it on a TV, do want bigger fonts so you can still read the text from 3-5m distance. ;)

StreamedMP has a config option during installation for small or big fonts. thats a nice way too go.
ofc. screens have to be designed to support both sizes.

Problem with default skin is that there are too big and too small fonts. Biggest fonts in default skin (used in EPG for example) are causing the visual appearance to be crowded. And the smallest ones used in the TV / recordings view show descriptions aren't even readable in 32" with 3.5 to 4 meter distance. So, we have two issues with the font sizes in default skin.

Font sizes issues are greatly depending on the screen size, eye condition & watching distance. So finding the balanced font size is really hard (but having only couple of different font sizes within the skin will reduce the issues). Unfortunately MP's skinning engine doesn't behave well when just increasing the font sizes, so finding a font size that isn't too small or too big is pretty important (or someone needs to by me a new TV :))

I vote for something in between :)
I currently use blue 3 wide but the fonts are little to big in my opinion. I watch my 107cm - 42" plasma from 3 meters away... They could be smaller.. I will have to view these screenshots to see if the text is too small on this skin and let you know what I think if it matters :)

That would be the perfect way to handle the issue, but it will cause lot of extra work. But maybe it cannot be avoided?

Guess we'll have to supply the skin with at least 3 different sets of fonts ;)

I think the preference for "simple text" is somewhere between 12-14 in size, of course the fonts also vary within the fontface, but something like that. The problem with changing fontsizes without moving the controls around is that the relative position within the layout also moves, take buttonTextYOff as an example.

While this can be defined in references.xml for a button, you sometimes need more than one button-size. Well, most of this can be fixed by including files in the windows, and using these defines (<define>#smallfont:font12</define>), but it is by no means an easy task :)
