Astro was a dog on the jetsons but Astro Boy is a boy robot that pre-dates the Jetsons. it was on air here in Australia when was a boy along with Prince Planet, Kimba (now Simba thanks to Walt) and a bunch of other early manga. So yes, Astro boy is a boy and has rocket boots. For more manga to Hollywood stuff see Gigantor and think of the Iron Giant.

the risk with childish (or over-designed) characters is to become bored after a year or so of use.
A more abstract concept (see the blue2 dummy) may be worth in the long term after all.

I totally agree on this.
+ this wouldn't degrade MP to a tv-only app as one of its main strength's is flexibility...
